Almost all of the writings of the Founding Fathers disagrees with you. Most everyone then felt that there should be no limitations on the types of arms a citizen may possess. The common belief among those seeking independence was that the government should never be better armed than it's citizens, that is what kept the government in check. There were fully automatic weapons in that time, they were incredibly expensive but they did exist.

You’re welcome to your opinion, obviously. But the truth is, the Founding Fathers purposely crafted these so that they were intentionally vague. Knowing that the time would come where interpretation would have to be made based on the times at hand. Nothing they wrote was meant to last for eternity …thinking that is absolutely ridiculous. No offense. The interpretation would fall not on the citizens, but judges as in the Supreme Court. All you have to do is read some of the writings of recent Justices like Scalia….
