I know there's been lots of threads about gifts in the room for children, etc. Now that our trip is getting closer (yeah!!! only 1 month and 10 days til we leave!)

1.We definitely want a pal mickey for 4 yr old ds.

2. A lanyard & a couple of special pins --thinking YC one plus I saw a Haloween set in the DS catalog...maybe there's a better suggestion? 14 yr old DD wants to start collecting pins this trip. Does anyone know what the best lanyard to buy would be?

3. We also want to get a special Sleeping Beauty barbie-type doll for 15 yr old DD--she's a doll lover plus her favorite is sleeping beauty. She wants the new one in the catalog, but am wondering if there is something you can only get at WDW...since we don't get there much thought that would be nicer for her.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

One of the coolest ideas I ever heard about as far as a place to collect pins while in the parks came from one of the All Ears newsletters in which a mom wrote in saying her daughter had purchased one of the goofy hats, complete with long, floppy ears, and put each new pin she collected on the ears. It sounded like so much fun!

Suggestion regarding the pins -- pick some up before you get there! Once you arrive at the parks the pins start out at $4.50 each.

What I did was when the Disney Stores were getting rid of their pins, I picked up 20 each for my kids. Now when we are there, they can trade with cast members for what they want. The pins cost me about $0.69 each. This is a huge savings and also a great souvenir!

Last year when we went I ordered some pins from cheappins.com. Anything that is a cloisonne (sp?) and is Disney can be traded at the parks. I also made a point of ordering pins that I knew my DS would not want to keep. A friend of ours is joining us this time and I again ordered some cheaper pins from cheappins.com (started at about $1.59 each) in things that I knew her daughter wouldn't want to keep. This way the kids can pick out what they want and you know whatever they get is worth more than you paid. For some of the pins that we couldn't trade for, we purchased them but this was about 4 or 5. Your DD also won't feel bad about trading something special!

Have a great time!

Here's a few things I found out planning surprises for our trip next week:

WDW florist can do "princess" baskets. I asked for Cinderella, and they are putting in a "collectors doll" (I don't know what that is, but I figure a barbie type) and also a crown for her. I asked them also to add some bags of chocolate candy and chips (at 1-2 dollars a piece) and so her basket will be delivered and all for about 50.00.

They asked me which princess, so I'm guessing they can do a basket for Sleeping Beauty too. Other items they offered me for Cinderella were a mirror set and a magic wand. They can pretty much build it as you want it.

I wanted to get a Pal mickey but since they told me that they prefer to arrange delivery for the second day of your trip (GF concierge told me this prevents mix ups with the previous guests who may be in the room if its delivered early) so I don't know how you actually go about having something there waiting. I suppose your best bet is to talk to the WDW florist staff about it and see what they say.

I planned surprises for DH and Dad too but can't say now, will tell later after we get back or DH isn't around :D

Have fun and good luck!
