Have gotten great feedback(from my previous post) about which restaurants to choose from for a family that has eaten in Disney hardly at all. The T rex is a must for my kids. Im kind of lost as to what to pick for certain nights though. I do not have the dining package. I wanted to try Boma..which I maybe able to fit in on my last night in disney. We also don't like interactive dinners if that makes sense. We just want to eat.

AK- T rex.
DHS: this is where I am having problems. Im not sure where to eat on this night. This will be a packed day since I need to see every show, fireworks and fantasmic. I have never seen it.

MK- We are thinking of monorailing over to Epcot for Tutto Italia

EP- We want to do San Angel Inn

Friday is my last day and we are hopping between DHS and Mk...Thinking I might be able to do Boma here.

Would you consider Mama Melrose for your DHS day? I know it's a sit down (and takes up time- you mentioned that you were trying to get through a lot of rides / shows, etc) but it can also save you time waiting in line for Fantasmic! if you can manage to get a Fantasmic! dining package at Mama Melrose. It is a one credit meal which includes an appetizer (bonus) and a 'pass' for reserved seating at Fantasmic! rather than lining up an hour in advance of the show. We enjoyed the food here, as well as the appetizers (caesar salad, calamari, minestrone soup). The other restaurants at DHS that we've been at are 50'a and Sci-Fi; however, your comment of 'we don't like interactive dinners' leads me to believe that these places are not for you (we love them, but sounds like you wouldn't). The only downside to MM I can see is that it is Italian and you are having dinner at Tutto Italia the next day at Epcot. My DD had steak / mac n cheese at MM and loved it! The rest of us enjoyed the pasta dishes. Dessert is a shared plate (it's ok IMO), but the added value of an appetizer is a nice treat:-)
BTW we love Boma - the only downside is getting to AKL by Disney transportation. Having said that, we still go here each trip on Disney transportation because it's delicious.
Have a great trip.

For HS, try for an earlier dinner at 50s PTC or Mama Melrose. MM definitely if you're looking to eat and get out in a hurry, but I love the food at 50's PTC. BOMA is fantastic! I love the dinner, but I'm trying the breakfast on our next trip.

Mama Melrose at DHS. This is a table service restaurant with pretty good food, hearty portions and you can eat here for a relatively reasonable price. We probably would not do both Mama Melrose and Tutto Italia -- instead of going to Tutto Italia (which can take a while from MK -- monorail over to the transportation center, then a different monorail to Epcot, then you have to walk all the way across Epcot), how about The Wave at Contemporary? We like the food there and you shouldn't have any problem getting a reservation. And again, the food price is reasonable. But if you are going to Epcot to eat that day I would consider Teppan Edo or Chefs de France (especially for lunch - very reasonable prices).

Another option for DHS day is to take the boat to the Boardwalk area (about a 15 minute ride) and eat at: Beaches & Cream (depending on ages kids might really like but you'll need a reservation); ESPN Club (wouldn't be my first choice); or just go in the back entrance to Epcot and eat at Chefs de France/Tutto Italia/Rose & Crown, which are all relatively close (Chefs de France and Rose & Crown being very near the back gate).

Just note- T Rex is located at Downtown Disney (aka Disney Springs), and not at AK.

I encourage you to consider a Fantasmic! package for your DHS day. We did the HBD last time, loved the food and the reserved seating. We are trying Mama Melrose next trip, with the package.

I thought about recommending that too but isn't it fairly pricey out of pocket? It is a good deal if on the dining plan.

I would consider Mama melrose. I have eaten there before and was not a big fan the last time. I am paying out of pocket though not on the dining plan. It might be better this time. I can't get the fantasmic package..it didn't have availability.. Im going in August so kind of last minute. hahaha. But luckily I have eaten at very few places in Disney, so we are quite flexible. I don't know how people fit in fantasmic and the frozen fireworks! I was going to try and get a fp for it after we use the first 3. Someone said that they are available later in the day and I might be able to grab one. But that is why my DHS day is crazy. I have to fit in all the shows. I think I will do the 2nd fantasmic if I can stay up that late!! lol I can't miss the fireworks. My favorite part of Disney! Especially Frozen Fireworks!

When I say interactive we don't want to participate in anything. It's ok if there is noise or stuff going on around us. I know there is a restaurant where the waiters and waitresses kind of bust on people? That would not be our thing. My son even though he is 10..has a fear with characters too. We have gone in the past and I was able to get some of that stuff done. We have eaten in CRT twice(loved it..just a wonderful experience to be there) . My DD and I are giant Stitch fans so we had Ohana breakfast and did the whole character thing. My son wouldn't go..lol

We love a dining experience though ..especially a good one! My kids are steak eaters. If that is on the menu, that is what will be ordered. If not my son will be the normal kid with pizza, cheese burger or chicken fingers. My DD18 will try other things like seafood, etc. My dh and I love italian dinners. So that is why we wanted to pick Tutto(we ate there on our honeymoon). I know Via Napoli is popular but we have really good pizza where I live and we have it every friday night. So I didn't want to go to a restaurant for pizza.

I considered Teppan Edo! But two of my kids aren't big chinese/japanese food eaters. I will check out that menu though because it's hibachi correct?

We do have a car...but we were just leaving it at whatever park we go to and trying to use disney transportation to get where we need too. The wave was also on my list. ..DHS is what is killing me. I probably could leave for dinner around 4 as long as I get the shows in.

On my post before people said San Angel Inn was pretty cool and good food...?? We were going to try that too. Hmm. This is so hard! haha. I really feel like we should try Boma. So maybe I should look in Mamas, then try the wave on mk day. then either San angel or teppan on epcot day . Boma on the last day? Do I need to drive to Boma?

To be honest, I'm not sure about the price for MM. For the HBD, it was around $65 a person which I thought was really good. I regretted using 2 credits for it.

Boma is perhaps our favorite restaurant at Disney and would definitely recommend. Yes, Teppan Edo is hibachi - they have both a filet and steak and shrimp option for the steak fans. We ate at San Angel Inn last trip - really liked the atmosphere though the food was only so-so in my opinion (had the steak tacos). Chefs de France has steak for dinner (about $35 though) as does The Wave. We didn't really care for the steak at Rose & Crown but some people like it. Mama Melrose has a steak option as well. None of the restaurants I recommended have any of the interaction you are worried about, perhaps other than Teppan Edo, which has the normal hibachi show.

If there isn't any restaurant in DHS you are interested in, you may want to consider taking the boat from DHS to Epcot and go to Tutto Italia then. This would also allow you to go to The Wave on your MK day. The boat wouldn't be fast (there are resort stops before it arrives at Epcot), but monorailing between MK and Epcot won't be all that quick either, since you will need to transfer at the TTC and then walk quite a bit between the park entrance and the park.

For DHS day, I would consider Mama Melrose. The food is good, and since you want to see !Fantasmic, I woulld book the package which ensures you a place.

AK day you are considering Trex, but that is not located nearby. I would suggest Boma at Animal Kingdon Lodge. The buffet is good, there are items that the kids would like, and theLodge is spectacular.

MK day, you want to go to Epcot and that is fine, but it is a bit of time for dinner. Have you considered a resort for dinner? I have heard that The Wave in the Contemporary is good, as is Kona Cafe at the Poly. If you could book 'Ohana dinner, which is a family favorite, that would be good too. Cape May at the Beach Club has a fun clambake, and then you could explore the Epcot resorts.

If you do want to eat in Epcot, and if you do decide MM, then you could try Rose & Crown, which is also a family favorite. of ours.

WE are trying San Angel this trip so I cannot give any reviews yet.

I'm with Nancyg56. I would do Boma on your AK day and move T Rex to a different day.

The thing is - the less traveling you can do, the better. DisneyWorld can be exhausting and extra travel just makes it worse.

I can see if I can move it. I was thinking that t Rex would be good that night because I know I can leave ak by 4 and have done everything. I'm just concerned about not fitting it in...it's an important restaurant to my kids..

I've been thinking g about the wave. I have to go look at the menu..that's a good idea. Ohana I would love to try. ..but I'm not sure I can get it. As of now, I cant. I'm going first week in august. . Cape may was also on my list. I'm seeing mixed in San angel. ...so that had me nervous. .

You are always going to see mixed reviews, food is very subjective. We enjoyed Cape May a few years ago. Ihave never been to Trex, so no help from me there, but if I was going to plan it, I would plan on arrival night if possible. Head to DTD after you settle in the resort.

My kids love T-Rex! It is a must for us too. I really like Boma, but I wouldn't travel that far just to eat there.

Our favorite restaurant at HS is 50s Prime Time. We don't care for MM. In my opinion, it is not good Italian food.

I would also try to eat in the MK area on your MK day. I would keep trying for Ohana or maybe BOG.

Yep trex is on my arrival night! Haha Elizabeth...I'm glad it's a must do for someone else.

What is considered mk area besides mk? The resorts?.

I think part of my issue us that dh really wanted the hoppers so I feel like I need to use them.

Your arrival day is also AK day? You are going to be very busy. I did nto see where you are staying, but you figure you arive, go to your resort, head to AK, go to DTD and then back to your resort. It is more traveling than you think.

THe resorts on the monorail line all have restaurants and are considered MK area.

Hoppers are fine, we usually get them, but for us, not for shorter trips. If we have a shorter trip we tend to pick a park and stay there. We tend to plan our days so that if we want to be in the park at close, we woudl just have a later start in the morning. I know you want to use those hoppers, they are expensive, but just beware the travel time. There is a guide somewhere out there that gives a rrough estimate of the time it takes to get from one place to another, and I found it to be helpful on our first trip.

"MK area" would be the resorts in that area: Contemporary, Grand Floridian and Polynesian, all of which are on the MK monorail, and the Wilderness Lodge, which you can reach by boat from MK. There are a lot of dining options at those resorts, some of which receive better reviews than others.

Since you are going to have hoppers the sky is your limit. Epcot has just about anything you could possibly want, just depends on how adventuresome your kids are when it comes to eating. Personally, we love HBD at HS, I admit a lot of it is the atmosphere. We stayed at AKV in May and while we didn't eat at Boma we did stand in the lounge and watch the cast dancing. It seemed a little loud to me and if you don't like interactive that might not work. Also at HS Sci-fi diner is a fun experience, not interactive but cute with old sci-fi movies and cartoons showing on the screen, the food wasn't horrible the service not the best but we enjoyed it. BOG is not a bad experience in MK, not my cup of tea but that is only because again it's big and a tad loud.
