Another resale question

We are thinking about buying a contract with no 2011 points and 160 points coming 09/01/12. Do those points go into that UY right away so that I can borrow them? Or do they literally not show up in my account until 2012. We are planning 3 trips in the next year and would need to borrow those 2012 points to do so.

So how does that work?

The points for all of the years are already in the account. No need to wait for the start of the use year to borrow them.

You may only borrow from one use year ahead.

So if your vacation falls between 9/1/2011 and 10/31/2012 (your 2011 use year), you may borrow points from your 2012 use year as soon as you are eligible to make the reservation (11 months prior to check in for your home resort and 7 months prior to check in for a non-home resort).

You could not borrow the 2012 use points for a vacation that occurs prior to 9/1/2011, though. Those dates fall within your 2010 use year and your 2012 use year would be 2 years ahead.

Everything is based on when you travel and not when you call. Easiest way for me to remember is to first figure out which UY I am traveling. Once I know that, I know I can use banked points from previous UY, current UY, and borrow from the next UY.

UY you are in when you call has no bearing on what can be used for the reservation.
