Another quick question about dining ressies

I have made all of our dining ressies so far for 5 people. My immediate family of 4 will be there and my brother in law will be joining us for part of the vacation. He is a doctorial student at Florida State and the days he will be with us will depend on what his schedule is this fall. What's going to happen when I have made a ressie for 5 but only 4 of us show up. Is it a big deal. Should I call them once it gets closer and update? Is it possible that they cannot change my ressie from 5 to 4 that close? Thanks for your advice!!

No guarantees, but 5 down to 4 is probably not going to be a big deal. You're much better off making ADRs for 5 and trying to get accommodation for 4 than you would be making ADRs for 4 and trying to get accommodation for 5.

I agree. Make your ressies for four and if you need to move it down a person, you can do that. We actually did it at the restaurant when we arrived to sit. We had a person no-show. It's not a huge deal if it's only one person. Just give them as much advance notice as you can.
