I should have probably included this in my post below...

How did you go about finding out when a contract was available? I have the 4 -5 links of brokers that have been listed on this site... but I also have read that many of the smaller contracts never make it to the websites and the waiting lists can be long.

Did you call the brokers weekly, monthly, etc or did you just wait for them to call you??

How long were you looking before you found the right one??

I went thru the TSS and I must have lucked out when I called in March, asking for a 150 point OKW resale with a Feburary use year! Just by luck they had exactly what I was after, I would call and ask to have your name put on a waitlist to be called as soon as they get what you want. I would also call at least once a week to check up on them, people now a days tend to forget if you don't keep on them!! Good Luck on finding what you are after.

I called and left our requests with resellers, but I never did get a call back. Both of our resales I found on the websites. In the last couple of days I have seen contracts exactly matching my request on websites and I have not been called. I did not pester them--guess you need to do that!

I used dvcbyresale.com and Shontell was great. We only addded on 50 points. It was listed on the website and we made a full offer and it was done in no time. Shontell did it all and we were HHI owners in 6 weeks. This was a great compliment to our OKW points and we have the same use year for both contracts.

I left my name, phone number and requested contract with Timeshare Store, DVCby resale and a timeshare. All three contacted me whenever they got a listing for a contract that fit our needs. Marianne

Same thing happened to us. I watched the sites and knew what we wanted, then made a random call to Shontell. She said my timing was impeccable because she'd just gotten in a 170 point BWV resale with 120 banked points and all of 2004 intact (use year was not a critical factor). Worked out perfectly.

Of course, that doesn't help you decide how often to call, but OKW91's "weekly" advice is probably not bad if you know what you want and are ready to move out on a purchase. At least they'll know you're serious.

Good luck. I figure when the right one comes along, everything will "magically" fall into place, like it did for us!

I called one broker (Sponsor here) and told him what I wanted. He said he'd call if one came in. A couple of weeks later I noticed just what I wanted listed on the web site. So I called, he had just sold it and said he forgot to call me. So I called another broker about one one their site that was close to what I wanted. She said that one had an offer on it, but had just gotten an identical one in that was not listed yet. I made and offer and heard back in 2 hours that it was accepted.

Oh geeze.. this sounds like it could be a potentially frustrating experience!!!

I had a similiar experience with these three, in fact, I still get calls from two of them even though I let them know I already put in a bid on a contract. The contract we did get was never listed on the website, this seems to happen to a lot of people so I don't think the websites are representative of what's available.

We bought hard to find small packages from both Shontell and from the Timeshare Store (the sponsor). Our experience:

With Shontell, we spoke to her directly, told her we were looking for a 100 point package at BWV or BCV and she put us on an email listing and sent advance notice of hard to find packages (others were on this email list as well). This was how she operated about a year and a half ago, so I'm not sure how she does it now. I can't say for sure, but I also think she called and left a vm. That is how we found our original package.

For our 2nd package (looking for approx 50 points), we called The Timeshare Store and asked to be put on a 'waitlist'. I think I left a voicemail message. I think we alerted Shontell as well. We never heard anything back from the Timeshare Store. We were obviously not put on a call list because we just found the package on their web site. It actually sat there for almost a week while DH and I debated buying it. Once we decided, we called and it was ours. We have passed ROFR and are closing momentarily. Since we found our package, I haven't seen much in the way of 50 points esp. at BWV and BCV, but they definitely do come and go.

My advice is to both check the web sites daily (there are some others out there as well - we actually almost bought from another one - Lee somebody, but the sellers had an issue so we didn't go through. No problems with Lee and his company though.

If you want to make call lists, I feel confident with Shontell that she will do that, but she doesn't get as many packages as the Timeshare Store. If you want to be on a call list for the Timeshare Store, call there and make sure you get a live person and make sure they understand to call you. I guess bug them. Otherwise, like I said, just keep checking the web sites. Good luck!

We've recently had a very good experience working with Shontell at DVC by Resale -- closed this week and are waiting for Disney to get us in the reservation system (they were running month-end stuff when we called today -- ugh)!

Although we haven't purchased through Jaki (www.atimeshare.com), she has been very helpful in answering questions and keeping on top of things.

RuthnPaul,
I would call each place. I believe I lucked out. I checked the websites daily and found a BCV resale at the TSS. These seem to be very rare, but I believe a lot of these never make it on their web site. They get properties in all the time and when I called they had the one they just put on the site that day and two other smaller ones that never made it on. If you think your ready to buy, I would be prepared to call and make an offer if it's close to what you want.
