Another PVD/SW question - that early flight

There seems to be a fair number of people who fly out of PVD on SW here so I figured I'd ask... I had been looking at that middle of the day flight but now I'm thinking hmmm... I have a 7 day parkhopper and was planning to go into the parks in the evening. If I take that early flight, I have pretty much that whole day and a whole extra meal to maximize my DxDDP for the first part of my split stay. I'm wondering if it makes sense to bite the bullet at the beginning of our trip when we are both excited to go (single mother traveling with then 8 year old son). I would likely get a hotel near the airport and maybe even do a park/sleep/fly thing. It seems like the best western there gets great reviews for their shuttle service and is only $129 a night.

has anyone done this and was it completely miserable?

I am also assuming that the flight schedule for first week of december will be roughly the same as it is in september/october. Does anyone know if the period between thanksgiving and christmas might have a schedule more like summer? There is an 8:30AM flight during that period in addition to a 5:40 flight that would be ideal (the 8:30ish one I mean!)... but in the fall the only morning flight is around 6:30AM.

I can't comment on the hotel but we have taken the first flight many times and would advise to give yourself a little extra time. We may just have bad luck but every time we take that flight it feels like we spend forever waiting to check our bags. I think last time we waited ~45 mins (with online check-in).

Security was super long too but we had TSA pre-check so we did bypass that line.

Even with the long lines, I love the first flight because you get to start your vacation even earlier :)

Lisa we live about 15 minutes from PVD and always take SW's first non stop flight of the day out. This August 23rd we are booked on the 6:45AM flight to MCO. We land and should be at the Poly by 10:30AM. It's like we slept in now have the entire day at WDW.

I can't comment on the hotel since we're so close we drive that day and park at Preflight which is now LazFly. I think the Best Western would be just fine and $129 to stay the night and keep your car there for the week is a bargain. My opinion is to go for it I don't think you'll be sorry.

Is LazFly run the same as PreFlight? Just curious.
I love early flights out of PVD. We live an hour away, which means a very early wake up call!
I've often been tempted to do sleep/park/fly. But, dh won't do it. It's a wonderful thing for early flights.

I am not a morning person and last trip I had convenient flights but it does hack two days off of your saturday to saturday trip. I'm thinking I might just suck up and deal to start my vacation earlier. I did buy the 7 day parkhopper!

I am hoping to get the poly for my first 3 nights! And really wanted to do Ohana dinner and MSEP first night but worried it is all too tight with a probably 3:30 landing time. If I was 15 minutes away I would not stay at the hotel, lol. I am a ferry ride away (vineyard) plus I would guess 1.5 hours from woods hole... there is no ferry that would get me there early enough the day before but more likely I would get my car off the island the night before and stay on cape anyway but I still think it is closer to 1.5 hours than an hour there. An hour extra sleep at 4-5am means a lot, lol.

That is where I saw the best western but it won't let me book as far out as december. I might call the hotel direct, I have often used park sleep fly rates in the past.

Well the shuttle service to their economy lot was fantastic last time I flew. My flight got in early and I had luggage and was in car about 5 min before my flight was supposed to land. The one thing I worry about is waiting a while to get a shuttle... not usually an issue in the morning but when the trip is over it is more of a bummer and one of the big appeals of flying out of PVD in the first place.

I also like that we are not flying through a time when a major meal is scheduled... I can pack some cereal and get some milk on the plane and my kid will be fine til we land.

I read reviews of LazFly at PVD and they are very positive. We are booking them for our August trip. I think if you prepay they take 20% off.

We used to live in Plymouth MA and regularly flew out of PVD. When we had an early flight (frequently) we stayed at the Sheraton on a park n fly rate. Nice hotel and the shuttle service is very good. Lots of airline crews stay there.
