another potato chip question

Sorry...I just have a question and don't want to hijack the other thread.

I know someone who makes chocolate covered chips. If you have tasted them, you know how yummy they are. If you haven't....go find some....now ! LOL

Anyway....she always used Pringles Ripple chips to make them. But suddenly, they are no longer available in this area. Does anyone know if they have stoppped making them? Or is it a regional thing?

Not sure about the Pringles. I always use Ruffles when I make my chocolate covered chips.

Thanks, I'll pass that on. I have to admit I was very surprised when she told me she used Pringles. They certainly did not taste like Pringles.

When she made some for Easter, she used regular Pringles, and they were a huge disappointment.

they are delicious,, i like them using ruffles, or wavy lays and i mix more dark chocolate in thanmilk,, but then i like dark choccy better too but they are a easy snack that is a fun change,,

I'm sure they are delicious, but they cry out for some way that they could be more fattening(rather like cheese fries..."no thank you, french fries are too healthy, please put melted cheese on them ) I'm thinking chips need some kind of dip...whipped cream perhaps? Creme brulee dip? Mousse?

Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05

Title: CHOCOLATE COVERED POTATO CHIPS
Categories: Chocolate, Candies
Yield: 12 Servings

------------------------------PHILLY.INQUIRER------------------------------
8 oz Sweet or milk chocolate
Chopped finely
24 Thick sliced,ridged potato
Chips

Melt 6 ounces of chocolate.Remove from heat.While chocolate is still
hot,mix the reamaining 2 ounces of chocolate into the melted chocolate,in 3
additions,stirring until each addition is completely melted before adding
the next.
Dip the potato chips,1 at a time,in the chocolate.Coat completely and
lift with a small fork.Shake off excess chocolate by rapping the fork on
the edge of the bowl lightly.Remove any drips from the bottom by running
the fork across the edge of the bowl.
Slide the chips onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment or wax
paper.Allow to cool until solid.Let chips sit at room temperature or in the
refrigerator.Makes two dozen chips about 12 servimgs???? Oh Yeah...

you can use any grated choccy,, left over easter bunnies, left over santas are nice,, has even used a cheep bag of footballs as coatin a time or 2,,, but if useing that recipe dont use lays,, cause no one can eat just one lays..lol if you dont have a dbl boiler use a glass mixing bowl sat over a regular boiler, just as god and sometimes easier

I have never heard of chocolate covered potato chips, but those could solve a lot of problems for me at certain times, if you know what I mean!!

Noo swoops are all choccy,, shaped like pringles but all choccy,, this is a chip ruffle style best onse, dipped intro melted choccy and rehardened, like choccy covered peanut , or pretzel,, just using potato chips, has eaten them for years, after i made my first ones quiet by accident,, i was coating a batch of pretzels for christmas once an accidently dumpped wrong bag into my chocolate. i had been eating the ruffles with dip,, and i was not looking reached over and grabbed the bag andstarted to pour,, turned out i liked em better than pretzels and stuck with th echips te next few years.. back then i always bought the expensive chocolat ebark meltin bars,,, btu now i not as picky,, chocolate is chocolate
