On waitlist for VWL add on for 70 points. Told it could be a very long time before I could even be called. (I'm very far, far down on the waitlist. Doesn't look good I was told, "bad news" was the first thing I heard...)
Also on BCV add on waitlist for 50 points, but told this could come through very soon, maybe even this week.

I already own 150 at BCV, but really want those 70 points at VWL.
Have down payment, but need to finance the rest, thus I'm not looking at resales.

My gut says to wait for VWL, but the longer the time goes by the less that shorter contract seems worth the price, plus I worry DVC might raise the price to match SSR.
Also, I would hate for the points at VWL to never come through and I missed the opportunity to add the 50 at my home at BCV.

It is an either or situation, hubby won't do two add ons, I'm lucky he agreed to one.

I need to decide as I've already given my CC number to my guide for the BCV add on.

I wanted VWL to book for Christmas school break at the eleventh month window. But, I know adding onto BCV would keep things easy to keep track of.

I'm driving myself, hubby and probably everyone on this board insane.

Anyone want to vote on what I should do?

I wouldn't worry about this part so much. DH and I have four different contracts -- two different resorts, all the same use year. It's very easy to keep track of them all as the banking deadlines are the same for all of them. Your add-on will be the same use year as your existing contract, so I wouldn't stress about this at all. We use a simple Excel spreadsheet DH created to track our points.

I voted for BCV because you believe that it is likely to come through. You can always reconsider a VWL add on later if your financial situation permits it or even a resale.

That said, if VWL became available first, I would take that.

I voted BCV because I believe that SAB is more valuable of an asset. I was able to book at OKW for Thanksgiving week easily at 11 mo and then moved to VWL at the 7 moth window, 1 BR, no problems. Didn't even do it day by day, just waited til the end and booked it, no waitlist. Haven't tried school break yet but I figured Thanksgiving at VWL would be harder and I'LL BE THERE!!!

I voted for VWL. Buy were you want to stay the most.

I say this, because I'm thinking that long-term home resorts and 11-month window will become more important. VWL is a small resort, surrounded by a large base of members. As the base grows, I'm concerned that the system may develop gridlock.

Shan,

I'd wait for the VWL. We love the VWL. We have 200 points there and 85 at the BCV. I think the more members that buy at Saratoga, you're gonna want some points at VWL for Christmas for that 11-month window. I think it's gonna be really hard to get without having some points there. And the VWL is the smallest DVC resort.

Maybe you can watch for a resale. Put your name in with some resale brokers. I'd also check Tug to see if anyone is selling by owner.

I would go with BCV for several reasons:
1. You already own at BCV so booking, banking etc will be much easier with all your pts at one resort.
2. 70 pts is a fairly small contract, it will grant you only limited booking advantages at VWL for anything larger than a studio or for anything but a short stay.
3. You can always use your BCV pts to stay at any DVC resort.
4. VWL is a fantastic, wonderful resort that is definitely one of DVC's finest resorts but BCV does have a slight edge for resale value; if you ever needed to sell.
5. BCV is harder to get a reservation at than VWL so the home resort booking advantage has more weight.

we have points at both - I'd go with 70 points at wlv. Don't think of it as a small contract, if you bank the first year and borrow the third year, you have a 210 point wlv contract once every three years :) and your bcv contract for inbetween. But the things to consider are, do you need the points now? If not, why would it matter how long you wait list, if you only need them next year or something - the contract locks in now, so you are just waiting, and not paying dues. The flip side is, do you still qualify for the buy back at bcv? Because there isn't one for those wlv points. Could that make a difference to you? Also, don't forget there is SS.

Edited to add Deep's point #5 is an important one - it seems like we can always find a room at old key west with almost no lead time, maybe find a room at bwv or wlv, or at least get those two by taking the old key west and waitlisting, but bcv we have always needed the longer window. People just want to stay there, and after the window opens it books up fast. So BCV points are good to have. With all the new points at SS being sold, there are even more points out there to go after BCV when the window opens.

I could be misreading this and if so please disregard this post, but if you get on a waitlist for possible pts that may come up for sale through Disney--you do not lock into the going pt price when you got on the wait list. If and when the pts become available for sale to you from being on a wait list; you pay whatever the going rate is at that point in time-- not what the going rate was when you got on the wait list.

Sooo, does anyoen think that after awhile they'll up the add on price at the otehr resorts to matvh the price of SSR at $89 per point? Or do you think they'll keep it at $84?

Also, my concern is onne SSr gets going VWl will be even harder to book since it is so small. I know BCV points are good to have so I do worry that if I stay on VWL add on waitlist and it never comes through (Woudl that be a possibilty?) I wodul ahev lost the opportunity to add on at BCV. I also feel liek the longer I wait the less that $84 per point is gonna be worth it with SSR now in the mix. I love VWl, I just really don't know what to do and hubby has now told me several times that it is my desicion. UGH!

What are the opnions out there if I was told I'm 40th on the waitlist?!? (I don't know if that is for all of VWL or just my use year. I was also told only 15 peopele have been called off the list in the last 6 months.)

I'm afraid my guide will call tommorow and I still don't know what to do!
