Another podcast is having a Disney cruise!

no judgements here, just saw that another Disney-related podcast is organizing their own cruise:

I can't judge, since I was not on either PCC 1.0 nor PCC 2.0, and I'm not going on this particular other podcast's cruise. I just happened upon it since I'm planning to go on my first cruise ever in a couple of months (DCL March 10, 3 night bahamas).

Looking at the itinerary, and the whole idea, I bet the Disunplugged Podcast was the inspiration for this. There's even a Palo Brunch (although for winners of some contest.) No Jodi Benson.

Based on paper alone, The Dis wins.

This other cruise has been in the planning for a couple of years now.
And they are not the only other Disney Fan cruise out there.

Personally I am sticking with the DIS Podcast Cruises, but I am also a fan of the show/site you mentioned. If the timing was better (not so close) I would have considered both!

I am staying at the Dreams Villas on my next trip to the world. It's no podcast cruise, but it is as close to the dis I can get right now.

I even once got a phone call from Teresa.

I don't think the Dis was the inspiration. This has been planned for a long time. There are several podcasts that do different things to get fans together.

Of course I could be totally wrong since I don't listen to any other podcasts and I don't know who he is. But it is nice to have someone do what they did because of their success.

If you don't know who Lou is, you should at least check out his show. WDWRadio is a lot different from the DIS podcast and awesome. He does a lot of live restaurant reviews, cool interviews, etc.

For a number of years there was an annual "MouseFest" cruise on the Wonder in December, followed by a large gathering of Disney internet communities at WDW - including the DIS in later years. The last MouseFest was in December 2008. There was a "Reunion" cruise/WDW event in Dec. 2009, because some people had planned to go to MouseFest before it was cancelled.

I'll be on the WDW Radio's Podcast cruise next month. They didn't book Jodi Benson for their cruise, but the focus is on the ship itself.

Thats right - I forgot about Mousefest, I had some local friends that I worked with at the Disney Store that used to go for Mousefest. Actually one year we were there at the same time as Mousefest and were in line with some Mousefest people, they were so nice. They gave my 2DS some buttons they had made.

I attended several MouseFests at WDW, but didn't go on their cruises due to lack of a roommate and not wanting to pay the single rate. I reconnected with a friend from college who liked Disney, and she was my roommate for the 12/09 "Reunion" cruise. We'll cruise together again next month on the Dream

MouseFest included individual fans plus internet groups. Some of the groups had podcasts, but there wasn't a MouseFest podcast. MouseFest was so successful that it got to be too big.

I think most people are trying to organize more events now the mousefest is no longer.

Met Lou last month! Really really great guy! Met his wife and daughter too who spent the whole time playing with my daughter! Podcasts are definitely different from the Dis though I do mainly listen to the Dis! Though I'm ashamed to say that I've fallen way behind since our trip last month.

Actually DD1, DH and I are all on one of Lou's podcasts from last month when we went to a meet during our trip! We all won t-shirts for answering Disney questions!

mommyceratops mentioned the DIS and the Toy Story Mania after-hours parties. I went to the one in 2009 during DISapalooza - and it was great! Those of you on the DIS WAY back in 2001 might remember "DIS-CON" the week after Thanksgiving. Our group had exclusive access to the Tower of Terror for several hours after the park closed! I'm not a ToT fan, but I went through the queue - then exited at the chicken elevator! So yes - the DIS has been sponsoring some very special activities for quite awhile.

The DIS and WDWRadio are the 2 podcasts I listen to regularly. I like both for different reasons, it's a nice balance. If you haven't listened to Lou, give him a shot -well worth your time. Try episode 117(DHS) -the information in that episode is unbelievable.

Only drawback --you probably won't catch any good rants.

I made the switch over to "The Dis" because of this. Our family was planning an ABD Backstage Magic trip for 2011 and Lou announced his trip. I went to go book that and his tour doesn't allow kids on the trip. I was pretty ticked about that. Who doesn't allow kids on a trip to Disneyland?

Then after some searching (i was just a casual poster here on the disboards), I found the Spring Break ABD trip offered here and booked it instead.

I used to listen to Lou's podcast quite a bit, then lately it has become too sugary and fantasylandish. I don't think I've ever heard him say anything negative - which makes me wonder how realistic it really is. I dumped WDWradio from my Itunes list a couple weeks ago.

There are some ABD tours that are adults only. That may be why Lou's group doesn't allow kids. If I were booking an ABD tour, an adults-only tour would be my first choice.

Thanks for summing up the pre-DIS and post-DIS group trips. Saved me some time explaining. There was another podcast that had a week long cruise on the Magic in October, as well. There have always been groups of Disney fans going on the Disney cruises for the past few years or more.

I was surprised to see Lou a couple days before the DIS cruise at the traditional RADP meet and greet. I had last seen him at Mouse Fest 2005. It was good to see him again, and to meet up with the December meet friends I hadn't been able to catch up with due to vacation time work schedule conflicts!

I did the Backstage Magic tour in December 2008, and it was listed as adults-only. That's the reason I booked that specific date.
