Another photopass question

Ok - could someone please explain to me how it works? I've found some info online - basically a CM photographer type takes pics of you, scans a plastic card and all the photos of you and your family are placed under a certain number which is on that card. Then when you get home, you can view your pics and order some if you wish.

But what's with the CD I have heard mentioned? The website I found talks about cost per photo (depending on size, of course), but how do you get a CD? And, more importantly, how much $? Not sure I want to spend a fortune on photos (though it might mean I actually get to be IN some!).
I'm a digi dependent - a paper copy of a photo means almost nothing to me - however, a digital copy, now there's something I can sink my teeth into.

(I even had all my wedding photos put on CD so I didn't have to print proofs, then burned cd's to give to my family members so they could develop whichever poses they want - that's how dependent I am!!! )

Can anyone enlighten me please?

well you can buy it before you go for 99 or in park for 59 if you dont want to beable to have special things on them in the park, or 139 in park with speical things (the borders are fun)
You can also do a photopass share cd. I did it and it worked grate paid 25dollers and was perfect. You can find more info on the photo board on dis site.

That's how it works! You can have more than one card if you seperate into groups one day-then you just add both to the account when you get home. They sometimes offer you a deal to purchase the CD in the park for around $60.

If you want you can set up a photopass share. I did this in September 2007 before my trip. You share the cost of the CD and it worked out great for me I think I paid about $40. If you get the one at the park then you won't be able to add in any of the boarders unless you bring or have use of a computer while you are at DLR. I had over 100 photos in 5 days.

If you set up a photopass share make sure everyone in the group knows that everyone has to use the same account.

Make sure you ask for a tinkerbell photo when you are by the castle-they don't always ask you if you would like one.

If you simply buy a few prints (5x7 is something like 12 or 15.95 each), you get the prints, and no legal rights to copy them.

The CD is a CD of all the pictures that were taken. You also get the photo release so that you can print them at home or through services (Costco, Walgreens, or the online printing places, wherever!) legally, to your heart's desire.

If you buy the CD right there in the park to take home, you cannot edit them, but you do get it right then. It's 59.95, though there were specials like the CD plus 2 5x7 prints for, hmm, 74.95, I think.

You can prepurchase the CD online for 99.95. That includes the shipping of the CD to you. With this CD, you can edit your pictures. Crop them, put borders on them, have fun with them. The editing isn't endless, but it's fun. You can prepurchase, but if you decide you do not want the CD, you can get a refund of that money.

And you can buy the CD after you get back, for the full price of 125.95, which again includes shipping of the CD to you. The same info about editing applies like the prepurchase.

There are those who are adept at editing software like Photoshop, and/or who are really into scrapbooking, who are totally content with the cheapest option. They can do it all on their own!

I like the editable CD for myself.

I too participated in a photopass share, and it worked very well, but I didn't mind paying the full prepurchase price, either, for our December trip! And I reused a card that I used in Sept, and mysteriously, all of my September pictures were STILL on that card, and so I got them again in December. Wild. And not to be counted on (they usually expire...you get 30 days after the trip to claim them, and 30 days after that to edit and order prints or the CD).

ok - just to be sure I have this straight - the cheapest option is to purchase the cd in the park, right? Now, if I had, say, a laptop computer with me at the hotel to edit the photos each day when we get back to the hotel, then purchased the cd with the edited photos on our last day, is that something that would work?
However, since I am a complete control freak, and a hopeless scrapbook addict (I know - a seriously warped combination!!), I am thinking I may want to be able to re-edit or play around a bit more with the photos (Jade mentioned adding frames) - so that would mean purchasing after the trip for $130?

Not sure if the photoshare idea is for me, being the anal control freak that I am, but I will have to look into it a bit more....

Is there a website or something where I can prepurchase the CD?

And remember, if you don't use it, you can get a refund on it. If you decided that you only wanted to least expensive option, when you are ordering the CD at the photo places (one is in Greetings from California in DCA), be sure to tell them that, to make sure nothing is messed up.

I do not know about the cheapest CD being at all editable. I don't know if it's possible even if you had a computer while you are there. Bradk around here is the photopass guru, and his website is: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/photopass/ . But most of that site is geared towards WDW. On the site he states "there is a significant difference between purchasing PhotoCD in the parks and online. In the parks, you are NOT able to add borders and enhancements to individual photos."

I'm not sure that the ordering-in-the-park CD is attached to an account at all. I think it's just all done while there in the photo places. So I really just don't know how editing them online while at the park would impact buying the least expensive CD.

the only drawback i see is not knowing how many pictures you will get on your photo pass.

we went with buying at the park for the cheapest price. i did register my pass during my trip as we had our laptop at the hotel, so i could see pictures, but i didn't edit any.

i'm a scrapbooker as well, but i don't like all the digital add ons personally, i just wanted PHOTOS with all of us in them.

note that some of the pictures came with the digital stuff. all of our "tink" photos had tink in them and our pictures taken on pirates lair with Captn Jack had a pirates border on all of them.

so, the cheaper cd was the perfect option both times we purchased it.

I mean, it's cool and all, but considering how many pictures they tend to take of the interaction with Jack, it just gets overwhelming! And you can't crop anything (like schlumpy not-knowing-she-was-being-photographed Molly in 3/4 of otherwise ADORABLE pictures of Jack and Eamon) in them, b/c it just crops the border, which then looks stupid. Grr.

I don't know if this helps or not, but when they took our pic, we were able to give them our camera as well and they tooks pics of us. I got to even be in pics! Woo Hoo! I didn't need to get a photopass because I had the same exact photo on my own camera. Then was able to edit and print them at Costco. They even offered to take pics with our own camera!

I went the prepurchase route and was determined to get as many pictures as possible. Anytime we saw a photographer, we got our pictures taken. I had fun adding the signatures, cropping the picture and adding borders but the choices were more limited than I expected them to be. It was worth the price for me but I'm not very photoshop savy.

Think I'll go with the prepurchase - that way I can still have the ability to edit if I want, but it won't be as pricey as an after trip order.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Fortunately some of mine were far enough away I was able to cut the faces out that I wanted without the border. We had TONS taken on the island, way more than I expected from a Photo Pass person that is for sure!

so my question is about the 'photo sessions' they talk about on stitch kingdom...all of the session locations mentioned are WDW. Are sessions available at DL? I would LOVE to have a family session while we are there.

No photo sessions at DL.

However, I think it was the person who was the leader of the september photopass share who did this, I've heard that some photopass photogs can be cajoled into following you around on a slower day. The person who did this found one in FL, I think, and the photographer even showed them cool places to have their pictures taken. They got a TON of pictures by doing this. I doubt you could do it on a busy day, well, who knows, I mean, I always see some of them standing around ("always"...LOL I've been aware of photopass on two trips). Anyway, if you can convince one to take you around, at least in their land, or area, it could be almost like a little photoshoot.

Or you could choose a few hours to dress nicely and then ONLY go have pictures taken. That might be fun. Hmm, that actually would be VERY fun!

When we were there right before Thanksgiving, they seemed to be doing a lot of training of photopass photographers...we kept seeing groups of them wandering around and practicing taking pictures of each other. This was mainly over in DCA.
