Sounds like the perfect time to take an ice cream break!
Thanks for your help!
Oh yeah, and since I'm always looking for a bargain what DD10 and I will do when we get ice cream is I order one of the 2 scoop sundaes and get the sauce(s) on the side. You can substitute any flavor for the ice cream on the menu so say I order the
Mocha Sundae - Two scoops of Mocha Almond Fudge, served in a waffle cup, topped with hot fudge, caramel, whipped cream and a cherry. $5.49 but instead of the mocha I'll get one scoop of cookie and creams (for DD) and something for me like Butter Pecan. Since DD doesn't like sauces I get them on the side and ask for an empty cup. Then I take out her scoop and put it in the cup. Then we share the waffle cup (or cone or choc. chip cookies-depending on sundae ordered). This way we both get ice cream for about $5.50 Two single scoops in a waffle cone without any sauces or whipped cream would be $8. We do this almost everytime we get ice cream at BrrrrBank or Gibson Girl in DL. The CMs have never given me any trouble with doing this.
Here's one time when we just shared 2 scoops in a waffle cone. $4.59 for 2 scoops vs. $3.99 for a single. Only 60 cents more for the 2nd scoop-what a deal! Note the cup of ice cream on the side.
Mocha sundae with substitutions and sauce on the side. So good!
And here's a 3rd option-
Chocolate Chip Cookie Hot Fudge Sundae - Two Scoops of Vanilla Ice Cream and two freshly baked Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip cookies, topped with whipped cream, hot fudge, chocolate morsels and a cherry $5.79 with cookies on the side (and we already got the extra cup!). I don't like my cookies soggy anyway. Additional benefit if you just want to eat the ice cream you can save the cookies for later!
This time I didn't get the sauce on the side but was DD was able to have hers without too much hot fudge on it!
If we have lunch or dinner at DLR I really can't eat a 2 scoop sundae anyway. And how many times have you seen kids with their own sundaes who only eat a small portion and than the rest gets thrown away? Maybe it's different for us since we go so often, but I'm always looking for ways to save a little. Save the money for the important things-like souvenirs!
