Another opportunity for an ABD trip to California

This is my absolute dream vacation and I've been feeling nervous and a little bit sick since reading the trippies and hearing the podcast of how much fun everyone had ::yes::!! The info about Toy Story 3 at El Capitan added to my pain, thanks for that :thumbsup2! Just teasing but really I would love to go in July but instead I need a year or so to save and plan for it. My hope is we will have another one in the planning stages soon, for next year or so...and that the podcast team goes to that one too ::yes::?!

:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes!

Also! Congrats on all the super cool Disney speakers that are coming on the podcast cruise :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2. Truely fantastic, makes up for not having a Palo brunch I imagine! Alas I can't attend that either :sad2:.

Oh what to do:

Cancel my pre-cruise week and PCC 2.0 OR go on this ABD adventure????

Let's see the lottery is on Friday and it is at $31 million. Now all I have to do is win and I can to both.....:cool1::cool1:

Did you catch the part of the Podcast where Pete mentioned they want to do more ABD Dreams Unlimited chartered trips. I think you will have another opportunity in the future. It will give you more time to save up. Personally, I'd stick with the PCC 2.0 and then plan on an ABD Adventure next year. JMO

DH and I were lucky enough to be on this past ABD trip with the Podcast Crew. It far surpassed my wildest expectations. Would I do it again??? In a heartbeat. However, know that Kevin and John will NOT be on the tour in July. It was great traveling with both of them and we hope to do it again. Oh wait! We will. After spending six days with so many great DISers, we came home and booked PCC 2.0!!!!!!! :wizard:

See you in December!!!!!!

:surfweb: If you want to know what went on during our six crazy days, check out my Trip Report below. However, my Trip Report may change your mind back to the ABD Tour. ;)

Adventures by Disney California Backstage Magic Tour ~ Trip Report (4/2010)

Thanks so much for all the info! Does anyone know if admission to Disneyland and California Adventure are included in the price?

Mjaclyn, admission is absolutely included.

The only costs not covered are a few meals, and, of course, the shopping!

Seriously, the shopping alone is worth the trip cost!

Or the visit to imagineerng!
:cool1:
Or the Studios!
Or Walt's Apartment!
:cheer2:
OK - all of it - I found that every single day was worth the price alone!

I know...DH and I would both absolutely LOVE to go. The only thing holding us back is that we just returned from WDW and have two more trips planned before the end of 2010. We'd have to cancel one of our other trips because DH only gets a certain amount of vacation, not to mention the ABD trip would be MUCH more expensive. I also feel a little selfish considering spending over $5000 on a trip just for the two of us when that $$ could be used for an AMAZING trip to WDW that includes both of our children (3 and 1). Still thinking about it though... :-)

I wish I could go this July, but it's just not possible. I would be interested in going next year, giving me time to save up my money.

Gah! My boss won't let me have the time off since that's the week she's on vacation.
Ok, so Pete, when is the sign up for next years trip. Im in.

I'm in a similiar boat as many others. Would love to go but timing is bad... plus I'm still paying off bits and pieces of the POD 2.0 cruise. Now, I would seiously consider the possible April trip next year.

This was the first trip EVER without our children. So, it has been ten years of family trips. It was well needed! I honestly think our children appreciated the vacation from us too. We are parents that give and give to our children. For once, we did something for "us". I highly recommend taking this as an Adults Only trip. Don't ever feel guilty for doing something for yourselves ...

Happy parents, make happy children. :wizard:

This July is not a good time for me either. I am planning on taking this tour again next year (because once was not enough ) and am impatiently waiting for the sign ups to begin. :)

I just signed up for this trip after changing my plans for a fall trip to DL. I believe that this will be a more fulfilling vacation and I can still visit the parks. I did have a mini heart attack after submitting my card, but I got over it fairly quickly ;) However, I am looking for a roommate to help share the expense.

Very exciting to hear in the podcast that your hoping to do 2 ABD trips next year, me and dbf have our hearts set on this trip but doing it with Disers could only be even more amazing!

I hate to miss what seems like a once-in-a-lifetime trip. But I can't get off work that time of year. I am excited to hear that there may be more next year! I'll start saving!

Have always dreamed of going on this ABD trip, but never figured I would. I certainly had no intention of going this year. But after listening to the podcast, I was hooked.

Timing actually works out just right for us: we already have tickets to come to the US on July 23 (from Switzerland where we're living for a couple years), grandparents are willing and eager to take the kids for a week and we're celebrating out 10 year anniversary this summer.

DH agreed and I signed on. Can't wait! :goodvibes

I've been feeling nervous and sick too...(and ready to cry!) after listening to the podcast about the previous trip and reading other details from other trippers. This is the trip I have always wanted to do even before hearing the extra special details. Now? I'm wondering what organs I can sell to afford to go in July. :headache:

Maybe with additional time to save and plan, it would be more realistic, but I still can't get the dream out of my head...and the butterflies and knots of wishful thinking out of my stomach.

My friend and I are changing our ABD trip from November to July if enough people sign up. Hope so, I will have a shorter time to wait!!!

I hope that we are able to go on this trip. My family had to convince me to go (although they did not have to push hard :rotfl:).

Couple of quick questions...what time do things start on July 25 and what time do they end on July 31? I am wondering about timing of flights. I'm not sure if I can make it work, but I can get the time away from work so that is one hurdled jumped. I need to work out the logistics and the cost as well as finding a roommate (three more hurdles!). No question in my mind that this would be worth it and a once in a lifetime trip for me. I listened to the podcast and would love, love, love to go!

I was on the Dis ABD trip in April. We met up at 4:00pm on the first day. The tour is 5 nights so the final breakfast will be on the 30th from 7:00-9:00am. You can schedule your flight for anytime that day. You can also add a post night and stay til the 31st if you want. You get a 4 day park hopper which you can use all day on the 30th if you stay an extra night. I really want to take this tour again and I am sitting on my hands and restraining myself and telling myself to wait for next year's trip.

I'm really tempted to do this. We thought about doing it as a family but don't think we can afford it on short notice for all 4 of us and my kids are young. DH has told me to go by myself but I'm really nervous to travel as a single. Especially overseas. I'd probably have to have a night pre tour so I'm not so tired after a long flight. I'm leaning towards it even though my kids would have a fit if I went. I'd also have to find someone that could look after my office for a week. DH and I are going to talk about it tonight.
