I understand there are restrictions on banking points depending on how far into the UY you are. If you make a ressie four months prior to the end of your use year and still have 25% of your points remaining, can you bank them all or only a percentage of what is left?

The banking limits are cumulative, and refer back to the total points that you own.

In your example, yes, you could still bank 25% of your points. In the 9th month of your Use Year, you can still bank up to 50% of your points. That's 50% of the TOTAL points you own, meaning that you would have no problem banking 25% of your total ownership.

But if you had banked 25% early in your use year, you would be able to bank NO points in the 25% banking window. That is what the cumulative issue is all about.

After you bank the points, are those the first to be used on a reservation the following year automatically, or do you have to request that they be used first?

They should be but it helps for you to tell MS just to make sure that is what's happening. Some have reported that banked points were not used first so I like to make it clear to the CM.
