Here is the situation.
Neighbors moved in about 6 years ago. When they moved in they put an 8 ft stockade fence around their grass they said to keep their dog from wandering. Their driveway is not fenced and touches my property line.
Neighbors have picnics all the time in their fenced yard. I am not invited but it is always family, not like it is friends etc.. and I was left out.
Last week for the 4th I had a picnic with some family and friends. I had told the neighbors about the picnic and told them that if they wanted to come I am asking everyone to bring something for the table (salad or dessert) and to let me know what they would bring so I wouldn't get doubles. I would provide the meats and buns. She never got back to me about what she would bring even though I point blank asked her the day before if they were coming and what they could bring since I had heard from everyone else already and didn't want her to bring something we already were going to have.
Anyway... I had my son who is the chef at the grill and I brought out all the salads I had made and a few others had brought. The next thing I know the neighbors and their 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren are over at the picnic table eating hot dogs and hamburgers. The wife said to me, We didn't bring anything for the table because we only wanted a few dogs and burgers.
I have had picnics before where the daughters, who are in their late 20's, about the age of my boys have invited themselves but never had the older neighbors.
Another problem I have is their dog pushes the gate open and comes into my yard and makes his mess. Their yard is georgeous, beautiful grass and no urine burns, my yard is a mess from their dog and mine.
The daughters have kids and when they visit (once a day) they play with my grandson's toys and go on the swing and climbing stuff and make a mess and never clean it up. I have told them over and over that I am tired of cleaning up and they have to learn to put the toys back where they find them but to no avail. The daughters sit on my lawn furniture and there have been times when I come outside to sit and I have nothing to sit on.
I am debating putting up a fence now. My son thinks I am making more of this than I should but I am tired of them coming over and using my yard while they have a nice fenced in yard, no toys outside for the kids and nice green grass. I don't think talking to them will work since I have already told them numerous times that I don't want hteir dog messing in my yard and they have to watch him when they let him out so he doesn't come over.
