Thanks so much for the input. We do like Lila (instead of Lilah). Not sure why I decided this morning to put the "h" on the end. Dh definitely likes it without the "h". Caroline will be for my Mom who passed in June. Until my mom died, we were going to use Frances as a middle name for DH's dad (Frank) who passed 6 years ago. So, after my mom died, we decided to go with Caroline as the middle name.

Here's the question, is having 2 middle names too pretentious???Louisa is a name that we have found in both of our family trees....but not a direct relative...certainly not someone that we have known.

Keep the input coming :thumbsup2
I do no think it is pretentious. My DD has 2 middle names and here is why.

We did not know if we were having a girl or a boy and I had 2 favorite girl names that I could not decide between. When DD was born I knew then that I did not want any more children, so which name to use. My DH lost his youngest sister when she was a teen and we wanted her name to be DD's middle name. Okay, no problem. Except, which name to choose......:confused3 ......When DD was 2 days old we had still not decided. My MIL was having fits "name that baby" and I told her my dilemma and she suggested give her all the names, "she can have 2 middle names". So, DD's first name is 4 letters and her middle hyphenated name is 18 letters;) we hyphenated it so that she truly only has 1 middle initial. My DD loves having all those names.
Go for it

Louisa sound too old lady-ish to me, like naming your child Edna, so I went with Lilah Caroline(though I too much prefer it without the h).The 2 middle names I think are fine.

I agonized about my son's middle name, deciding between Matthew James and Matthew James August...and finally decided that girl or boy I could use August for the next one's middle name(it's a family name on DH's side and has been used every generation except our children's), but then we decided that 2 kids was it for us, so no August and I really regret not giving my son the 2 middle names.

All the Louisa's I've ever met have been spoiled little...well I won't finish that.

Lilah is much better :)

no, it's not pretentious, especially when both names have significance. My son has two middle names as well. My Dad died when I was little and I always thought that if I had a son I'd give him my dad's name as a middle name. Well, FIL died when I was about halfway through my pregnancy so DS ended up with two middle names- FIL's and my Dad's. He has a really long name and we have caught some flack for it but when I explain WHY he has all those names it tends to stop people in their tracks.

I voted for the first option just because I liked it better.

With my 2nd daughter, we considered using my grandmother's name somewhere in her name. I told my mother but asked her not to tell my grandparents since we hadn't made a firm decision yet. We finally decided not to use that name after all, so on the day she was born, my grandparents walked in the room, looked sadly at me and said "So you decided not to go with your grandmother's name after all, huh?" Leave it to my mom to spill the beans!

My 3rd daughter does have my grandmother's name, but it isn't the name she's called.
