Another MNSSHP question: rules on costumes?

So would you go complain to Disney if your kid found the Snow White ride scary, as I can totally imagine that can be scary one for kids? I have on many occassions seen kids be frightened of the wicked witches, Captain Hook and sometimes even the cuddlier characters. Would you go speak to a CM about that?

No because I can prepare my child for the things that they are going to see that are provided by Disney, I can also, as a parent read the advice boards outside a ride and assess whether that ride is suitable for my child, I can show DD Snow White on DVD and explain why the wicked witch is wicked and why captain hook has a hook for a hand etc etc, I cannot however explain why a lady would want to dress up is a very scary costume (that is unless you plan on wearing an advice board too? :confused3)

As I said I can't understand why you would want to visit such a place as Disney with this in mind, I suppose it's just strange to me?

have you actually bothered reading what my original ideas were for costumes? A roccocco dress (Marie Antoinette style) with a Venetian mask or Dark Willow from Buffy tvs (which basically means a somewhat gothicy outfit). Either of them are hardly freakishly scary. I was mainly wondering where the boundaries were. I also made it clear that I wasn't talking gallons of blood or gore.

And even though the title states "not so scary" it doesn't actually state "completely not scary but all rose tinted and fluffy". It's a Halloween party. You may try to explain why why the wicked witch is wicked and Hook doesn't have a hand. Although I do wonder how explaining that an older woman wanting kill a young pretty girl, setting a hunter after her and wanting her heart in a box and then when it doesn't work out, resorts to sorcery and poison to continue her murder attempts, makes the movie any less scary or disturbing (or how a small child can actually grasps the concepts)? :confused3
And even if you prepare them, when the time comes from them to actually see the movie or characters, they can still burst out in tears of fear. Efforts in vain
If you can explain all the things about evil characters, how can it be hard to explain to a kid that sometimes, some adults like to dress and pretend to be evil and that if you go to a Halloween party, that that is the place where adults actually get to do some of that stuff?
Still, kids (and adults) can be afraid of a lot of things, not all obviously scary. As I said, I've seen kids be terrified of cute and fluffy characters, so you can't prepare them for everything as one doesn't know what will actually scare someone. Even the not so scary halloween party still has as it's main protagonists ghosts, a headless horseman, zombie-like servants, witches, villains, ... Guests are actively encouraged to dress up. But for a guest coming to that Halloween party it's only ok to dress up as something cute and fluffy and not as a scary zombie, ghost, vampire or witch?

You obviously just enjoy arguing, and of course are never wrong so I am going to leave it at that, I did read your original post as it happens. I just hope that when you have children your views change. I'm just glad that we aren't visiting until January.

I just have specified the ":lmao:"
it's regarding the "I just hope that when you have children your views change." statement.
presumptuous much?

Its a subject people will always disagree on because whats scarey/offensive to one person is not to the next. I personally went as a Dracula/vampire character with a little blood, acceptable to my DW who is a Nursery officer, then 9 year old DS and Disney. I never even considered this would be offensive at halloween but maybe it is to some:confused3

Or on the other side of the spectrum: if you're wanting to go all Halloween and want something properly scary (fake blood, really good monster make up, ...), would that be too much for Disney to handle? I mean, however much fun it would be to really scare the hibijibis (sp?) out of people, would it be too much and frowned upon?

As far as I can see it was pretty obvious what your original question was.
You asked if it would be frowned upon and people answered.
You asked if Disney could handle it and people answered.
Apparently you didnt like the answers, but we can't be blamed for that.
My opinion is that I can take my children anywhere I want and let them know what is to come and if I, as a parent who knows my kids limits, think it will be too much then we will bypass it and go somewhere a little more 'warm and fluffy'
What I can't prepare them for is someone who thinks it would be tremendous fun to 'really scare the heebie jeebies out of them' without them having fair and prior warning.
That is exactly why we wont be taking them to HHN at Universal, and have chosen MNSSHP.

I can not believe how pathetic you have become through this post. At the end of the day you can go to a party however you like, and I can see your point of checking things out before hand. If you ask a question you have to be prepared for answers, you obviously don't like answers that you disagree with so don't ask any!

I don't have children and even I know children react differently to things, someone was telling me the other day that their granddaughter is scared of Bruce for goodness sake, but at a disney party you don't expect to be scared, apart from the obvious which is slightly different, and I am sure your outfits would be considered carefully and you have every right to go exactly as you like, but please grow up!

I think the subjects been covered now. Will close the thread before anymore personal attacks are posted.
