Hi! Please dont flame me but need some clarification- we are booked for the Fort for August and I want to go ahead and make park ressies due to the fact they are filling up pretty quick. right now we just have a room only ressie (campsite). My brother can buy the military salute tickets for us which will be a savings- here is the question/concern. Can I add "regular" tickets to my room only to make it a package BUT then at the guest relations have them refund the difference of the military ticket vs the "regular" ticket? I was thinking going this route so I dont have the pay for the military tickets upfront- just in case we have to cancel- and it would be able to make park ressies now.

you can only get tickets from your brother if he is with you to activate them. If he isn’t they won’t work. He can prepurchase them and you get a voucher code you use to make reservations. They must still be activated by him in person at a ticket window but the voucher lets you make reservations and back in the day book fast pass. If he isn’t there no go for military salute tickets.

He will be with me- we always go together and havent had any problems with the military tickets. I just wasnt sure if we could get refunded the difference.

If he gets them through Shades of Green they will already be activated, the problem is Shades of Green is running about 3-4 weeks processing time if you order them through their online order form, but they do take walk up customers and you get them at the counter ASAP if he is able to make it there.
If he purchases them from a MWR, they will be the exchange vouchers and he will have to be present to exchange the vouchers before entry. The vouchers can be exchanged any time before the first entry. They can be exchanged at Disney Springs guest relations, Disney Springs ticking office or the park entry ticking office. For example if he is possibly going to Disney Springs some time ahead of the trip, or perhaps on your arrival day head to DS and get them exchanged

Why not just buy them now and have him give you the number to secure reservations? You can buy them at any MWR ticket office (tax free btw) or by contacting shades of green. Then just activate once there. Buying regular and asking foe a refund is questionable at best and will require time in a potentially long customer service line.

Makes since you get them now at the meeting office- we can hop over to the springs before we hit the parks to reduce delays ... thank you!

We always make a arrival day thing out of activating tickets by taking the monorail to the magic kingdom and visiting the monorail loop resorts and activate at the magic kingdom guest services outside the park. Sometimes grab the boat to fort wilderness and walk around there. Grab lunch at contempo cafe or a dole whip at polly etc

Well, I don't know about refunds, definitely something to get more information on. When I priced packages before, I still came out better doing room only and Shades of Green Salute tickets. The Salute tickets are purchased ahead, but I'm thinking even if you could do the scenario you mentioned, that might complicate those park reservations made against another ticket. Yes, as mentioned you can activate if necessary ahead of time if they are vouchers.

Doubt they would refund you the difference. The simplest thing is to get them now and add to your MDE accounts.

While the huge discount on the military ticket is awesome, if Covid hits and you have to reschedule your trip but then the military member gets sent active duty, it is sad to see a military ticket just sitting there and no one can use it for the October 2021 vacation because it expires in September....

I will say that they let us activate my grandson's ticket at guest services sent we had the orders, military id copy and the actual coast guardsman on face time :)

You will not be able to get a refund on package tickets after check-in. At that point, you could hold the extra set of tickets for another visit. You could book a package with the $200 deposit while awaiting the military vouchers so you can make park reservations. Then once you receive the military vouchers, call to drop the tickets from your package leaving it a "ticketless package" (essentially a room-only, but it follows package rules for deposit and final payment) as long as that is done before the final payment due date/cancellation date.

However, it sounds like you already have a room-only (campsite-only) booked, and you can't just add tickets to a room-only reservation to make it a package; room-only and packages are a different inventory requiring a cancel and re-book. Without the "package" the tickets would be a separate purchase and non-refundable. So it may be complicated and risk losing your campsite reservation.
