Another Luau ?

I'm taking(dragging) my best friend(age 26) to WDW for the first time this fall. I was considering getting seats for the Luau, but the reviews of the new show are making me nervous. I saw the old show years ago and remember it being pretty good.
I chose the Luau because I know my friend really wanted to see one in Hawaii while she was there, but didn't have a chance.

Would the luau be a nice surprise for her or a disappointment?

We went to the Luau last Sept for my husband's Bday. We had never been before, but he really wanted to go when we were there in '88, but we could not afford it.

It was fun. The show is upbeat and very cute too. Some is traditional Luau and some is very much more contemporary.

Our only problem is that we are not big drinkers and we were seated with some heavy, obnoxious drinkers. The 2 fathers sitting next to my 12 yr old son were taking digital pictures of the the performers breasts and acting like complete idiots. They got up to leave and one of the fathers was so drunk that when he tried to pick up his child, he almost fell over. To say the least, we weren't very impressed and it was hard to just enjoy ourselves. Looking back, I will definately keep an eye on our neighbors at any community tables and ask to be moved sooner rather than later.

We are going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo in Septemeber and are praying that this does not occur again.

We did the Luau last August. It was okay. We enjoyed the show. It was about what we had expected. The food was mediocre. We also had a couple of people that were really taking advantage of the free flowing beer/wine!!! Man, they were obnoxious!!! But we were seated about 5 tables away. Would we do it again? Probably not. It wasn't the kind of thing we would do twice. But, like jay-nee, we are doing Hoop De Doo Review on our next trip. Hope there are no 'obnoxious' people there.
