Bro, Willie isn't coming back, sadly. We all hope he is well and thriving but this is no longer a place he wishes to be. But best to him wherever he resides.:)

so tell me if this is not in the spirit of this thread.

Jeopardy spoiler alert.

I thought I could make you weekend lovely by sharing with you, how intelligent you all are and what contestants today did not know on Jeopardy....they must live like gophers...their heads always in the ground

They did not know of Carl Spackler
They did not of know of arron Copeland
They did not of know steam power
They did not know of Elvis Costello
They did not know of JFK

The champion did not walk out of there today with a whole lot of money.

so if you know of any three of the above....time to cue QUEEN....have a nice weekend....I bury my head in football games all weekend...such is the loveliness of Yuma, Arizonian, where the broccoli's is only ankle high. 🥦🥦🥦🌽🌽
🥦🥦

I am not aware of Carl Spackler, I'm familiar with the others. One of my all time favorite Jeopardy puzzles was this one...

A St eet Ca Named Desi e

It took forever to get an answer:rolleyes:

Se iously?;)

OK I just Googled Carl Spackler. As many times as I've seen the movie I never caught the name!

Can 2020 stop now? I just returned home from 5 nights in Indiana, holding vigil with DH's siblings/spouses while his father died at home, on hospice. We are all OK. It wasn't expected but he was 88 and had a plethora of medical complications (COPD, diabetes, stage 4 kidney failure, congestive heart failure), and has been slowly failing since the beginning of September. He was taken to the ER on Sunday where he refused dialysis, with oxygen saturation of 84%, and asked to die at home with hospice support. We flew out and arrived in time for him to recognize that DH was there, for DH to tell him he loves him. It was a horrendous week for my FIL but surprisingly he passed very peacefully, surrounded by his children, on Friday afternoon. We are OK... shocked and saddened, but it was an honor to be able to do this for him, and the hospice people were invaluable in supporting us all.

My condolences to you, your husband and family, leebee. Always so very sad.

:flower3: You have my sincere sympathy - losing a parent, no matter their age or yours, is life-altering.

leebee, so much heartache, health scares and illness in this awful 2020 year. So glad to read of your husband's last words with his father. So glad he was surrounded by all that love. :grouphug:

Thanks, everyone, for the support. It's just been a year, ya know? There will be a visitation and memorial service on Thursday for my FIL, in Indiana, but we aren't going. It's too complicated with our work requirements (professors don't have substitute teachers, and I am teaching remotely so the department thinks this can be done from anywhere), the travel arrangements, and quite honestly, I just want to stay home. This is a memorial service for closure; there will be no funeral/burial (cremation isn't even complete) but next spring there will be a service and burial in the family cemetery in Ohio, with full military honors. We are thinking of doing this on Father's Day, or on my FIL's birthday- and we'll definitely be there.
I just want to say thanks again. Isn't it funny, how strangers who've never met can become friends?

.....and that's why I love this place!!!

So glad we can be here for you!

***sidenote***I have met Dan a couple of times. He's just as great in RL as he is here! 👍

Leebee back in the spring a friend passed away in the early days of the pandemic. There was no way to have a funeral or any kind of service. His sister decided to schedule a celebration of life for August. Of course the pandemic was still in full effect but the event went off as planned. There was a nice buffet set up with tables for 4 spread out around the room at the funeral home. It turned out to be nice event with friends and family saying a few words and everyone chatting at their tables.
I thought it was ideal, maybe something like that could work for you?
