Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

As I got older I got a bit more sensitive to animal stuff. I love meat for sure I just don't like to think about where it came from lol I know that sounds bad.

On the deer bit..it's probably a big combination of seeing them around me all the time. This is a common enough sight around me:
View attachment 286939This is our backyard at the end of this September.

And even though hunting is prohibited in residential areas so I wouldn't have to worry about someone hunting them (I have seen 3 deer in 3 years be on the side of the road in our neighborhood because they were hit though :( ) it's just the thought. That's not to say that the deer jerky I had wasn't good--because it was lol--but I'll stick with beef jerky from now on lol

Venison, and seafood is second nature to me, my parents while growing up ate solely from the land, and ocean; there were no grocery stores. We have deer, rabbit, quail ie on our property but, rely on Farm Gate to Plate business' for our venison. Dh's father hunted, and he went with him as a kid but, hunting is hard work so unless we absolutely had to..

Ds, and Ddil wanted black to go with their other black/beige furnishings! :)
Black is easy to coordinate with.

Makes a lot of sense too :)

Husband's step-sister's husband likes to hunt birds though they do it more for sport.

My husband and I aren't seafood eaters but step-father-in-law, who is from just outside of Boston, def. is. When I visited Martha's Vineyard several years ago I realized I couldn't live there lol. Lots and lots of seafood places. This was also the case visiting my husband when he was on field assignment in southern Maryland.

Funny that! (Newfoundland expression) when he took on this project for ddil, and ds he kept reminding ddil that he is NOT a cabinet maker.
Omg that's like my husband.

Just the other day I said "do you think we can make that" and I was pointing to kitchen cart to put next to one of my kitchen cabinets that I'd like to have (doesn't need wheels perse) so I can put coffee stuff on there instead of taking up counter space and he was like "honey I'm not a furniture maker".....even though we've built our master closet shelves, a desk, a mail sorter, a key and notebook holder, etc. I know what he means though because we're not the most skilled people our things don't look like a professional did it lol.

Happy to see everyone checking in!

As jevs said, Christmas is "in progress" here. I've decorated (except for the big tree, which won't be until closer to Christmas) and I've started cards and wrapping.

I'm watching my little "niece and nephew" today, and took Christmas pics for their mom. (Sorry I can't post them, someone else's kids and all that...) But we has a fun time, and I think I got some really cute shots!

They're napping now, and I should be working on more cards, but I'm here relaxing instead.

Just chiming in to say I'm not a venison or seafood eater. So definitely a boring eater.

Nice reptile cage NFLDERS .

I respect that you can't or don't want to post pics of the "niece" and "nephew" you watched, PollyannaMom. I got permission from my two sons to post the couple of pics I have of their children and even then I feel kind of funny about doing it. But their pics are splattered all over Facebook so I'm thinking the DIS for me is sort of safe spot especially after 17 years! :)

Our dgs's (our son) parents don't mind that I post pics, and stories about our dgs. However, our other ddil (other son's dw) wishes that we do not. Very few stories (exception of Christmas gifts ie) about our dgds are shared here. Albeit, I believe I've mentioned that we have two granddaughters. :sunny:

We leave on Wednesday morning for our 2nd overnight (2 nights/ 3 days) bus tour. :) Merry "Almost" Christmas everyone! Our first snow storm in the area should be cleared up on Tuesday. :) I don't know if I'll take many pictures that would be accepted here 'cause there are a lot of nude statues at Caesar's!

After a trip to the ER yesterday I found out I'm a statistic now. I am one of the ones that have contracted this year's strain of influenza even having gotten the flu shot. So needless to say I feel like garbage. But the doctor told me if I hadn't gotten the flu shot I would feel worse. Okkkkkk then.

Thank goodness it's this week and not next with the grandbabies all coming for the first time ever to my house for Christmas. I'm mostly done with Christmas shopping so enjoying our pretty snowy winter wonderland. Of course I am on some strong cough syrup thus the word pretty comes to mind to describe it!! :rotfl:

Noooooo, and you got the damn shot??? You should demand a refund. ;) I know people get terribly sick from the flu so rest, force fluids, and treat the symptoms. I'm pretty certain I haven't had the flu in decades and I never get the shot. As you said, if you have to get it, better now than next week.

Jane we all look to you to maintain pure and chaste thoughts in the presence of such vulgarity. I'm sure you'll represent ALDIO by conducting yourself with dignity.:thumbsup2
Nice to see you Ms. Sparkles:wave:

Not sure if I ever mentioned it, but Santa Claus is an old friend of ours. One DGD met him at a meet & greet a couple of weeks ago, and last night DD arranged for the girls to call him. They knew right away it was Santa--same voice as at the meet & greet, and there were jingle bells in the background. Of course Santa immediately knows their names, their dogs names, the doll's name, and their elf on the shelf Clark. What impressed them most was that Santa remembered their mommy and her twin sister from when they were little girls. He even remembered their mommie's elf Virginia. Which was quite a coincidence sine we were just talking about Virginia a few days ago.:scratchin A very successful call from a very busy guy this time of year. Just one thing: Now the 6 yr old is searching mommie's phone for the number and wants to text Santa.:rotfl: That Santa is a good guy.:santa:

That's precious! Enjoy the magic of Christmas this year with a six year old.

Just reporting in. We arrived at Caesar's Windsor, Ontario after a snow squalled drive. Our room with a view of the Detroit MI river looked like this...

Ok, like this...IMG_00000405.jpg

Things deteriorated, and during the night we were entertained by fog horns from the freighters. However, by morning the weather improved, and much to Dh's delight this was our view.

I'd read on line that the resort was hugh but, underestimated the amount of walking! Anyhoo, I think I have seen Julius in a toga so I'll try to send a few pictures when we get home, I'm all worn out tonight! :)
