Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

Just reporting in. We arrived at Caesar's Windsor, Ontario after a snow squalled drive. Our room with a view of the Detroit MI river looked like this...

Things deteriorated, and during the night we were entertained by fog horns from the freighters. However, by morning the weather improved, and much to Dh's delight this was our view.

I'd read on line that the resort was hugh but, underestimated the amount of walking! Anyhoo, I think I have seen Julius in a toga so I'll try to send a few pictures when we get home, I'm all worn out tonight! :)
That's a pretty view! Lookie at that snow..I like to look at it not be out and about in it (unless I'm actually playing in it versus driving in it and running errands in it)

NFLDERS,Jane, in my influenza cloud of reading about your upcoming trip I guess I failed to realize you were going to Casino Windsor (what it used to be called) across from Detroit!! We used to spend many nights there before our casino was built. I loved that view of the river and most of all (and you can ask my entire family) the ore boats are my most favorite thing about the Great Lakes! I even collect them. My BFF's 88 year old father was a captain at one time. How cool for you. LOVE that view of the boats!! Have lots of fun. It's a great place to be! :thumbsup2

I was relieved that we did not have to do the driving because it turned out to be a return trip in a lake effect storm that brought us to our drop off point 7 hours later!

Pretty cool sight when you're landlocked like me & Mackenzie. Hope you're having fun, lovely pics Jane!:)

It was a fun place to be but, my cane got a massive work out!

We found the Casino to be gorgeous but massive to walk about, and we only saw a fraction of it! My DH is retired from the steel manufacturing industry (Industrial Electrician) and, seeing the freighters was a delight for him. :)

Still in a cloud? I hope you're feeling better and can at least enjoy part of the weekend.

I too, hope kitty34 is feeling better really soon, and can fully enjoy the Christmas Season. :)

Julius Caesar was not to be found again during our stay but, I did manage to take a few pictures. Enjoy!

The largest indoor Christmas tree I've ever seen.

AND, for the foodies a description of a few of the many, many desserts from the Grand Buffet.

Pina colada shooters! MY FAVOURITE!!
Chocolate dipped green apple pops
Banana-coconut pops
Cheese filled, icing powdered, canolli pastries
Mini pecan tarts
Mini sugar cones, filled with chocolate something or other (Mousse?) and sprinkles on top

Unfortunately, the picture does not do any of these justice...

Merry "Almost" Christmas everyone!

I love the trip photos, Jane! My husband and I have spent a little time in Windsor. We used to drive across the border - back in the days of easier border crossings - whenever we would visit family in Detroit. There was a little coffee bar called Milk that we enjoyed and some vintage clothing stores nearby that I had fun poking around in. And, of course, we would walk along the river and watch the freighters going by. I loved to watch those boats. We have tugs and barges here. Not nearly as thrilling as the large ships on the river up there. Those were fun times. It was when we were young, newly married, carefree, and childless. Never made it to the casino, though.

Just popping in to say hi while I wait for an upper-GI endoscopy. My 6:30am report time was changed to 11am, so I am hungry, want coffee, and am anxious. I had gastric sleeve surgery in Sept. 2016 with no problems, but have started having bad reflux a couple of times a week, so my surgeon wants to take a peek and see what's happening (meds haven't been effective). I am so tempted to cancel and just keep taking the meds, maybe doubling up. How bad is a throat filled with stomach bile a couple of times a week, right? LOL! I need to get this taken care of now, though, as my new job starts in 2 weeks and with it new health insurance. I do not want the new insurance company to have any opportunity to say "no coverage for this pre-existing condition" so I'll go today. I know... the law says they can't do this, but I have no confidence that the health care policy won't change dramatically, and pre-existing conditions will come into play, so off I go. Geez... this being a grown up and doing the responsible thing sucks sometimes, doesn't it?

What's a gal to do, eh. Hope you feel better real soon, and in time for your new adventure. Take care.

We had a few conversations with fellow bus passengers, the descriptions of Detroit and Windsor were interesting. Our Ddil refers to us now as Casino Tourists!

Sickness is soooooo not fun!
Speaking of which...you back up to speed?:)
Illness has now struck in our family as our 5 yr. old DGD has come down with some kind of bug. She went to work with DD this morning but started to fade fast so DW & I dropped by DDs work to snag DGD. She's coughing, has a fever, and is complaining of a headache. The ibuprofen helps a lot but when that stuff begins to wear-off she is just miserable. I think she'll bounce back in a couple of days, but nobody wanted to spend their Christmas break with a sick little one.

Yes, Ron, I'm feeling a lot better; thank you for asking. :goodvibes I HIGHLY recommend that Tamiflu they prescribed within the 48 hours of getting the flu. Works like a charm in about 4 days! It was amazing!! I sure hope your little one feels better by Christmas.

Update on our DGD. I knew it was not going to be good news when DW told me DD texted her at 2:53AM.:faint: DD took the 5 yr old to the pediatrician this morning and she was diagnosed with the flu. DD is having some work done at her house so they are both asleep in our guest room right now (having stayed up all night last night.) She got some meds so I think she'll be feeling better in a day or two, now we cross fingers that their whole family doesn't come down with the bug.

Yes, I certainly hope that for you! Your post put me in mind of close friends of ours who, several years ago, one by one all came down with Noro. There were 7 of them (all adults, thankfully) and they were all quarantined form the 23rd to the 28th. We and others took turns keeping them fed but it was anything but a Merry Christmas for them that year!

Well, it’s another lovely day here in Calgary - we got snow (a butt-ton of snow) yesterday after having had a beautiful respite from winter for the past month. Just in time, of course, to make last-minute scrambling around town and highway travel treacherous! No complaints though - we were certain winter had settled in in earnest at Halloween and here we are not having had temps below zero or any snow for over 4 weeks! It has made winter seem almost bearable and since today is the solstice, the days start getting longer from here! Yippee! :yay:

Bah Humbug... hang in there. :grouphug:
