Wow I've missed some posts. DW & I took DGDs to WDW for a few days, had a blast of course. Great news about Shayne, sounds like he's a born leader! Where's that pool Jane? Our neighborhood pool will be opening in about 10 days and the DGDs will be ready to make the most of it. Twilight what happened with the fireflies, any news?

DW has been traveling for biz and is having some bronchial issues--fingers crossed it's not pneumonia. She has a long history of upper respiratory problems but has been doing much better for the past few years. She just got it from the airport and has a doc appointment tomorrow. Hoping it's just an anitbiotic/rest situation.

Wonderful! WDW with the dgds making great memories. Sorry your DW is not well upper respiratory problems are so difficult.

Shayne is so excited about student council that he showed up for a meeting 'Early' and, was disappointed when it was cancelled until September.

The pool is at a casino resort 3 hours north of Toronto or 3 hours and, 45 minutes from our door.




Off the pool through a sliding wall of doors there is a waterfall wall feature and, patio on sand! We've yet to be there in warm weather to enjoy it but, maybe this summer.



The resort has a theatre, 7 sit down restaurants, 3 express, and a Tim Hortons.

That's all I know for now albeit, lots of excitement at his house.

Edited: DH told me during our coffee break this morning that Dgs said he has his first meeting tomorrow.

Jane, where did you go? Looks heavenly. This is the first time I've sat down all day and look at the time! Life is crazy here lately. Busy, busy, busy. Hope it settles down a bit soon. A nice relaxing getaway would be the best!

Micca, WDW with the fam! How fun!!! Glad to hear you guys had a good trip. Hope your wife feels much better very soon. Fingers crossed it's something easily kicked.

Recently there was a poster who created a thread wanting to know if KS and MO had had firefly sightings but really we hadn't here at least at the border of KS and MO. I'm thinking our wonky weather messed it all up lol-they sure aren't that special species though.

I'm sorry to hear about the respiratory issues. I sure hope it's not pneumonia either for her Hope she get's to feeling better

I've had an upper respiratory infection and bronchitis before--neither of which I would want again though my sinus infections can last a while (the most recent one the congestion stuck around for weeks).

Good Morning ALDIO'ers. Everybody must have been pretty busy lately given the lack of action here on the thread. I hope this finds you well!

I woke up this morning to the blessed sound of rain pouring down - our first precipitation of any kind since it stopped snowing in early May. The low humidity, dust and pollen counts this spring have been off the dial; seriously impacting air quality and comfort. I'm not a person with allergies but I've been unable to even be out in my yard it's been so bad. The humidity is up to 31% inside - almost tolerable and I haven't gotten a static electricity shock yet today!

OTOH, the rain will bring our seasonal work schedule (at my job) to a screeching halt and I'm bracing for the dozens and dozens of complaint phone calls I'll get tomorrow. Since I haven't been able to get any yard prep or gardening done I've called for reinforcements and my DSister is flying in on Wednesday to do it for me; she's amazing at it. I hope the rain stops so that mission gets accomplished before she has to head home. We'll have a good visit either way, which I'm looking forward to!

Hello citizens! Just back from a short trip to Chicago to see Paul Simon in concert and visit with some family. Otherwise it's been fairly quiet (but HOT) around here.

Speaking of concerts, I saw Trace Adkins last night in concert. It was a lot of fun.

Everybody must have been pretty busy lately given the lack of action here on the thread.

Crazy busy around here, but in a good way.

My DS got his license, a car, and his first after-school job all in the space of a month! (He's been saving toward the car since he was seven, and we double-matched what he saved.) I'm slowly adjusting to both the worry of having him out there and the freedom of not having to drive him places.

Last weekend, DH and I went to the National Cemetery in Bourne to help with the removal of Memorial Day flags. This weekend, we uncovered the pool, and I re-planted a small flowerbed.

The pollen is gross here as well. - Everything is yellow!

It was excellent. He had a dozen musicians on stage with him and the level of musicianship was off the charts.

Hi everyone Just catching up here ronandannette: We are taking advantage of open windows to do a reno of our ensuite bathroom. Unfortunately, our gardens are playing second fiddle! The hummingbirds don't seem to be deterred by this one though.

The bathroom is looking great, Jane! Pretty flowers, too. : )

PollyannaMom, I think we're a little behind you and your son. It's permit time in the fall for my daughter. She has been driving on the dirt roads at the barn for a few years so she has the basics of vehicle operation down, but I'm still very nervous about moving on to real roads and traffic.

I saw Paul Simon and Bob Dylan together several years ago. It was a great pairing. Bob Dylan's my favorite of the two.

Pollen season is over for us, but it was the worst any of us can remember. Glad it's gone now. I was hoping we were going to avoid mosquitoes this year because they normally show up in February and no sign of them - - - - until two days ago. So not happy to see/feel them.

On a happier note, the most adorable baby bunny appeared in our yard yesterday. It's still here today. We've enjoyed watching it roam around and nibble plantain seed stalks. Good thing my yard is too shady for a veggie garden these days. As long as it doesn't hurt our ornamental plants, it's welcome to stay - not that we have any say over it!

Our retriever Charlie had to be satisfied with window watching three rabbits chase each other around the side of our house. I felt sorry for him because I knew he wished to be out there with them.

Awww - all the bunnies sound cute!

We have a groundhog/woodchuck (whichever you call them) living under our shed with 5 babies! If I had a garden, I'm sure I'd be annoyed, but I don't, so I just love getting a glimpse when they're out. I'll try to log back in with my phone and post a pic.

Twilight......I was just thinking about you last night as I sat on our porch waiting to see our first fireflies. Still a bit early for them around here.

You DISers with new drivers......reminds me of the days I had to sit in the car with my middle son. I spent three months in neck therapy, I was so tense with him driving. He now is what I call a Detroit driver and when I ride with him like we will this weekend..........well let's just say a Xanax is a wonderful thing!

I can honestly say teaching DS to drive has changed me forever. It was soooo traumatic, and that's without there even having been an incident of any kind. It has completely ruined my ability to be comfortable as a passenger even when riding with DH. I feel like I have to be hyper-vigilant and I can't nap or read in the car any more and have to constantly clamp my jaws shut to keep from kvetching him to death. We did a road trip through SoCal in April and I was shocked at how distressing I found it. I do think I managed to keep myself in check and not ruin the experience for DH but it will be a long while before I run out of excuses not to take another driving vacation.

Yeah I don't think nature intended for parents to teach their kids to drive. If you pulled that off you're a very clever mother. My mom & dad tried to teach me, and I think DW and I tried with DDs but it was not gonna happen.
