Another lovely day in Oklahoma. . .

Howdy everyone! We had about 30" of snow last week, so I'm not panicked about tonight's predictions of "only" 5-8 inches! DH and I shoveled in 3 stages last week; here's a picture taken from my front porch before the third round of shoveling- that's my little Kia Soul with the foot-high snow cap! Photo on 3-14-18 at 9.59 AM.jpg

By the time we finished shoveling, the snowbanks were right up into the lower branches of the tree you see here (yes, with the Christmas ornaments still hanging... haven't been able to get close enough to take them all down!). It's getting better; most of the snowbanks are only about shoulder high, and I can actually see down one side of the street when backing out of the driveway (snowbank's still too tall on the other side)!

I had a fun St. Patrick's Day. Went to breakfast at the local pub (live music started at 7am)and didn't get home until about 2pm. I took a much needed nap, then went to dinner at our friend's home at 7pm. I drank a lot of ice water that evening and did NOT stop at the local taproom at 11:45 on our way home! Sunday I made a huge corned beef dinner, as DH and I both love it, so I won't have much cooking to do this week!

I have the cold that's going around so I am just holding on at work today. This week is a short lab (I manage the organic chemistry labs at UMaine) so I think I'm heading home as soon as the kids finish up. Sigh. I hate having a cold! I'm also in the middle of planning a Disney trip for August with DD24. DH is not a huge fan, so when he goes with us it's all very calm and low-key; with DD I already have dinner reservations made, parks planned out, etc. No discounts, so I'm tempted to do it on my own instead of through Disney, but am hanging on to everything (hotel, tickets, dining plan) until I see if I can snag free dining (IF they offer it). Traveling to Disney World is so much more fun to think about than trying to figure out when the snow is going to start today!

You guys can't catch a break with the winter weather.:cold: I hope the power stays on and you can at least try to stay warm. I'm afraid "mud" season is here as well, the DGDs tracked in some soil samples last night. At some point I'm going to remember to vacuum after the girls come over, not before.

@leebee Nice update! Good to hear from you.:)

That photo is gorgeous, Leebee! But, I can imagine what a pain it would be to have to deal with. That much snow would shut down everything around here until it melted. So much for spring!

Mud season here, too, Jane. I swear we've turned into a rainforest. I have been dreaming of having super hero shield powers lately so I could shoot a bubble around our area to keep the rain away. The amount of mud is ridiculous. In a few weeks, we'll most likely be hot and dry again and looking like a desert. Then we'll have dust blowing everywhere, and we'll be wishing for rain. I would like to be the chill, zen type person who just embraces whatever mother nature sends my way, but it's hard to do when I spend so much time outside.

In a few minutes, I'm going to what will hopefully be my last physical therapy appointment for a knee injury I sustained in December. Fingers crossed they say I'm done!!! : ) I adore my therapist, but it would be nice to know I'm as back to normal as I will ever be.

Have a great day, ALDIO peeps!

I've heard that on the week-end, car washes in Toronto area were turning away cars that were too mud dirty! Good luck with your 'last' physio appointment. :teleport:

Great picture but, OMgoodness the SNOW! Hope you're over your cold fast. Thank goodness for WDW eh?!

Leebee, I really think I would break down and cry with all that snow at this time of year. The Noreaster's are causing us (Michiganians) to having just very cold temps but NO snow, thank goodness. :cold:
 I could have sworn "y'all" were called Michiganders?

Cars in Calgary never get muddy; just absolutely encrusted with road-salt slush. 'Tis the season - washer fluid has gone up to $6 bucks a gallon at Mac's. :wave2:

They did pass a "law" saying we are Michiganders but some of us (rebels) still stick with Michiganians. Can you imagine Texans being Texaganders or Ohioans being called Ohioganders?? I could go on and on and on and on, etc et!!! :teeth:

A very Happy and Blessed Easter to all the AlidO's. Including you, Willy!!'s Hope all is good with you.

I must admit, sometimes when I see the thread pop up, I click and - for just a second while it's loading - wonder if it could actually be Willy back. I do hope he's doing OK out there, and knows what a nice thing he did in bringing this thread together!

We have Good Friday off here, so I am having a slow morning. It's supposed be warm "enough" for Easter, so I'll take that over any more snow!

Easter activities underway here with DGDs. Bunny cookies were made last night, bunny cake will be made tomorrow. DW inventoried the various treats to fill the eggs and we have that under control. Today we'll begin to buy the food for the big feast on Sunday, tomorrow it's an egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny.
Just how great is it that there's a chance for snow on Sunday?:sad2:

Everyone have a great weekend!:grouphug:

Yup, me too. I was reading the old-timers thread and suddenly, there he was: King Schultz!! :woohoo:Then I looked at the date, and it was from 2 or 3 years ago. :( I keep hoping he'll come back. I wonder if he has any idea of the impact he's made on some of us!

No big plans for Easter for us. We are non-religious, so this is a non-holiday at our house, but I've still purchased a leg of lamb (5 pounds for 2 of us... what was I thinking??) and a Reese's egg for DH, and I think I'll bake a cake. We are visiting friends for dinner on Saturday so we'll bring the beer and some tulips. I'm really looking for signs of spring right now- the snowbanks at the end of my driveway have shrunk to about waist-high and the snow in the yard is still about knee-deep. At this point I'll take anything that promises spring!! :flower:

I am completely failing at the holidays in 2018. They're all sneaking up on me. We usually make a big deal out of Mardi Gras, Pi Day, St. Patrick's Day, and Easter. This year, though, Mardi Gras came and went without a big pancake feast or a king cake. I copped out and at least made quesadillas on Pi Day (they're round when you put the pieces back together, right?), but St. Patrick's day passed by without so much as a loaf of Irish soda bread. I'm so not ready for Easter this Sunday that I'm wondering if we should postpone and celebrate Orthodox Easter! That would buy me another week. I applaud those of you who have your plans all set for Sunday.

Feeling for those of you who still have snow on the ground. I guess it's still sweater weather for you all. A snow covered ground might make for a fun egg hunt, though!

Add me to the list of people who wishes Willy would come back.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
