I am looking for some advice from some Logan veterans. Normally, I fly out of Manchester since I live only a couple of towns away. When I do fly out of Logan, I take a limo service. However for my trip in October to Orlando, I am looking for some advice. Here is the background information: My sister and her family life in Worcester. We are all flying together on Jet Blue. Our current plan is that I am going to drive to Worcester and pick them up. Then we are all heading to Logan together. In order to keep the cost down for them, we had decided to drive to Logan and park at one of the park & fly places. So here are my questions:
1) Which park & fly place do you recommend? We don't want to stay overnight at a hotel. Also, do you know the cost for 1 week? (Actually we are going for 9 days, but 1 week is a good comparison cost)

2) In your recent experience, are the park & fly's that much cheaper than a private limo service? We will need a limo large enough for 3 very large adults and 2 children plus luggage.

3) Any opinions/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Economy parking AT the airport is $16/day, $96/week.
Parking in the garage at the airport is $22/day.
Preflight Parking (www.preflightparking.com) $94/week. Go to that link, click on Boston airport parking, then in the upper right corner there's a link to a coupon for one free day parking.
Thrifty Car Rental airport parking (http://www.parkingatlogan.com/) $15.95/day $84.95/week.
Logan Express from Framingham: $11/day, $66/week PLUS $20 r/t for adults, children under twelve are free.

Take into consideration the nightmare of the Ted Williams tunnel, which is shut down (at least partially, I think they are letting commuter buses through). I'd try to avoid driving myself into Logan these days. Check with the limo companies, as well as the bus lines...these might be a better choice...or to garage offsite and take the water taxi in ( hear you can do this, but haven't checked into it myself). What a shame that JetBlue only runs out of Logan!

We're about 8 miles east of Worcester and fly out of Logan all the time. In fact, we fly in Oct also!!! I'm sure the tunnels will be open and fine by then, so it would take about an hour for you to get there. We tend to use the off-site economy lots if the weather is going to stay good....no snow!!! These lots are cheaper, but can be iffy to find. My dh had no trouble finding them, but I think I'ld still be driving around Revere trying to get out if I had been driving. You could drop everyone off, with the luggage, at departures, and then go to the lots and take their shuttle back. The shuttle is very convenient...more so that I had thought it would be. For the return, my dh always heads out, via the shuttle, picks up the car and then grabs dd and I from the live parking area (where the limos, shuttles wait). Dd and I get the luggage while he's getting the car.
The other choice you could use would be Knight's Limo...they are based in Grafton, close to Worc. I've used them several times and been happy. They use vans for the airport runs, so there would be plenty of room.http://www.knightsairportlimo.com/ hope some of this helps.

It may be true that the tunnels will be fine by then, Diane, but if one listens to the politicos (which I try to avoid, but sometimes it comes through, anyway!) it may be several months before the TWTunnel is open to general traffic. Just putting that out there.

So true..hope springs eternal though!!! Wonder how this is going to impact the elections??? Should make for interesting campaigning. Here's hoping they get something open before Oct...I like being able to make the trip in 45 minutes. I am not looking forward to having to wind around downtown Boston or treking through Revere!!!!

the park and flys are cray i was looking for an august and they were all over 250
car services were around 200
my dad is driving us in and leaving my car at his house in malden and a friend is picking us up

From www.massport.com (although I'm not sure I agree with the grammatical correctness of "arriving to" :)) :

ALTERNATE ROUTES TO/FROM LOGAN

When entering the Airport, note that the inbound roadway system consists of an upper level for departures and a lower level for arrivals. All parking is accessed from the roadway on the lower/arrivals level.

Passengers are being detoured to alternate routes. Therefore, Massport is urging all Logan travelers to use public transportation whenever possible. For alternative routes to Logan Airport see below:

Alternate Routes ARRIVING TO Logan Airport

From the South:

Option 1: Follow I-93 North over Leonard Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge. Exit left at Exit 27, Route 1 North/Tobin Bridge. Cross Tobin and take first exit, Beacon Street/Chelsea Waterfront. Go straight off the Beacon Street ramp onto Chestnut Street. Take a right at the first set of lights onto Williams Street. Follow orange Logan Airport detour message boards and signs to access Logan Airport.

Option 2: Take I-93 North to Exit 23. Follow signs to Callahan Tunnel and Logan Airport.

From the North:

No Detours, use I-93 South to Exit 24B (Airport) or Route 1A South to Logan Airport.

From the West:

Take I-90 East to Exit 24B to I-93 North and use either Exit 23 or Exit 27. Follow the Logan Airport detour signs to access Logan Airport and East Boston through the Callahan Tunnel or Tobin Bridge. An alternate I-90 Eastbound route is to use Exit 18 (Allston/Cambridge) to Storrow Drive and either follow I-93 South to Exit 24B (Airport) or the Tobin Bridge.

I'm with you there, Diane! Good luck! I can now avoid the whole thing, since I just bought a camper, and will be staying at FW for the next few trips. Now I get to deal with other states' highway nightmares (not that they can compare to the Big Dig  ). Have fun in October.

Someday, I would love to make the drive...but that would mean, most likely, being in the car with my dh, for a very long time. He thinks that if you have to drive more than 3 hrs, you should have taken a plane!!! One day, though, I'll make that drive. Perhaps there's room in the camper??!!

I'm planning on going solo, so yup! Plenty of room! I'm looking at December right now...

Everyone,
Thanks for the opinions and the advice. I have done a few park & fly searches but I really didn't come up with much. What I did come up with was just about as expensive as a limo. kaytieeldr, thanks for the links. I don't think that those 2 sights came up in my previous searches. I will definitely be checking them out. Also, I never really thought about the Logan Express from Framingham. I will definitely look into them also. Everyone, thanks again, I knew that you would give me some excellent ideas!

I am not sure what I am doing next month myself... I have to decide

choices:
1. Logan Express from South Sh.
2. Park at Logan
3. A friend LIVES near airport in E Bos, park there and taxi in and out for about 10 bucks?

I think 3 sounds cheapest and easiest!

(DH was driving us in, but he HATES Boston and really gets stressed- so now that the tunnel thing happened, NO WAY can I do that to him! Detours will freak him out!)

Ahhh Logan, still a pain in the BUTT! I think I am doing Green from now on!
