Hi again! Ok, I'm pretty sure I know what kind of seats I want to see Lion King on Broadway, (floor seats, next to the aisle) but now I need advice on what venue to get the tickets from. I don't want to pay more than I have to, should I just go to ticketmaster online, or go through the Disney site? Are there any other venues I should consider? Also, I would like to order the tickets from somewhere that I can see the seating chart and pick the exact seats that I want. Any advice out there? Thanks in advance.:wave2:

I think the Disney site links into the ticketmaster site. The fees sucked - can I say that on the DIS? Off the top of my head, when we saw LK in Indianapolis, the seats were $75, and by the time all the fees got added up, the tix ended up being about $85 each.

The play is fabulous - if you go in through the ticketmaster site - you do get to pick your seats. I don't really care for their website- but they are trying to make sure the "average person" can get the tickets instead of just the broker.

IMHO, you've picked out a great location!

We are seeing this in Boston in September. I called Ticketmaster the second they went on sale, before it became available to the public. Are you using a code so you can do this and where are you seeing it? If it is already available to the public, your chance of getting orchestra seats may be slim and none. Those sold out almost immediately. I called last month to see what was left (I was just curious) and there were just a scattered few seats available through the three months they will be here, amazing how fast they went. So just be aware it is very popular and buy them before the public can. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses.
Jillpie~ My DD and I are going to NY for a weekend in May and want to catch it then. I don't want orchestra seats, probably front mezzanine (sp?) by the aisle. I heard that the animals parade by and I want her to see them well. (She's 6) I don't know of any codes, how can I find one to use?

If you wat to see the animals pass by then you need to be in the Orchestra. They do not parade down the aisle in the Front Mezzanine. The mezzanine hangs over Row L-M and if you are sitting in even the first 2 rows you miss much of the animal parade. They do provide booster seats for children at all the theaters that show child friendly shows. This raises them up enough to see the show like we could. I hope this information helps. You are giong to LOVE this show. If you have time, go see Beauty and the beast as well. You can get half price tix for this show at the TKTS booth or by using a discount website at www.hitshowclub.com.

Have a god time and if you need suggestions on dining let me know.....I live here in NYC.

:teeth: Fire away!! I'm still in all the planning stages right now, we were thinking of going to Planet Hollywood for dinner before the show, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! We want to stay close to the theater.

Just a warning, Planet Hollywood will probably be verrrrrry crowded if you go before the show. Staying close to the theater, Cafe Europa is a nice place, but it's more like a Deli than a sit down restaraunt. (But it does have seats). I'm also not positive about how close it is to the theater, I think it's only a block or 2 away.

I will be more than happy to suggest restaurants in the area right near the theater, but keep in mind that you will pay top dollar, even for chain restaurants that you are familiar with. There is an Applebees right down the block and an Olive Garden up on 47th St, a few blocks north of the theater. Good, but typical to what you can get anywhere. There are some great smaller restaurants on Restaurant Row.....45th St. between 8th and 9th Ave. These restaurants serve excellent food, cater to pre theater diners and will have you in and out quickly and efficiently. I can also recommend Virgils on 46th for Barbecue, The Heartlad Brewery on 43rd for good old American food and Ollies on 43rd for excellent Chinese. Now, if you feel adventurous head out of the theater district a bit and go downto 31st and 5th Ave to Svenningson's for the very best lobster in NYC. This is a very reasonably priced seafood house that also serves american cuisine. The owner is a lobsterman fro Maine who flies in his seafood 3 times a week. We have dinner here quite frequently before going to the theater and you can walk from the restaurant up to the New Amsterdam theater directly up Broadway in 15 minutes.

Keep on asking any questions you might have and I'll be happy to provide answers!

Thanks for the replies, Waffles and LJC1861. :D

By any chance, do the restaurants that you mentioned take reservations? I am worried about waiting too long for dinner and being late for the show.

We are planning to go on a Thursday night, if that makes any difference. Also, I couldn't get orchestra seats, all sold out :( , so I'm looking at row AA in mezzanine...do you think we'll need binnoculars, or can we see the show well? As you can tell, I've never been in a large theater and I want to be prepared for everything!

Thanks so much for putting up with all my questions!

I sat in the front mezz when I saw the show, it shouldn't be a problem to see everything without binoculars.

Another suggestion I can make is John's Pizza on 45th Street. the menu is mostly pizza witha few pasta dishes. they don't take reservations, but it won't be too crowded on a thursday evening. when you are seated, tell the waiter you have Lion King tickets and he'll make sure you're out of there in time for the show.

Just a word of warning. We went to NYC for Memorial Day weekend last year and no one but the LK ticket office had tickets available for the four days we were there. We ended up paying premium price for the only show they had tickets for (Sat. matinee). We had orchestra seats and it was fantastic!! I felt bad for the people in the mezzanine, the money is definitely worth it for orchestra.
So, you might want to try to buy ahead.

bizybea,

Svenningson's does and I will post the phone number later. As for the others, most don't. I'll second what the previous poster said about John's pizza--a wonderful dining experience if you love pizza. As for your seats....you should be fine without binoculars. I work in a store with a Ticketmaster outlet and will will look up the seating chart when I am in on Sat. to let you know exactly hw many rows back you are.

Briar Rose 7457~ Thanks for the restaurant suggestion! That sounds yummy, and I'll be sure to tell the waiter! ;)

angey77~ the orchestra seats were all sold out for Thursday night. :( We're not going until the second weekend in May and the tickets are already sold out. I may change the night to see if they have any orchestra seats then, but we have so much planned that we want to do that Thursday would be the best day for us to go. About where in the orchestra section did you sit?

LJC1861~ Yes! If you would post or pm me that # for Svenningson's I'd appreciate it! I read your post to my DBF and he sounded really interested in the restaurant, so that definitely is on my list. Also, thank you for checking the seating chart for me...if I can't go on another day in orchestra, I know that there were some AA mezz seats still available.

"Another suggestion I can make is John's Pizza on 45th Street"

Excellant pizza!!! We discovered this a few weeks ago when we went to see Lion King. Its right around the corner from the theater and worth it!!!

Yes! I ate there for the first time in Feb. after we saw Mamma Mia at the Winter Garden theater. Very good pizza and even better with a beer.:teeth:

I am used to a very large size theater where I live. So when I walked into the Winter Garden theater I was shocked at how small it was. Any seat was a good seat. Even mezzanine is great.
Are they all this small in the theater district? If the Lion King theater is small I wouldn't worry about having mezzanine seats.

Theaters vary in size and shape. the Winter Garden is tiny and the New Amsterdam where the Lion King plays is one of the larger houses. What is interesting to know about the New Am is that is was orignally on the corner of 42 and 8th Ave. They put the theater on rollers and moved it EVER so slowly down the block to its present location. Disney also put a considerable amount of money into the restoration project. When you go, take note of the intricate details on the walls and ceilings. This landmark theater is truly an incredible work of art.
