I will be more than happy to suggest restaurants in the area right near the theater, but keep in mind that you will pay top dollar, even for chain restaurants that you are familiar with. There is an Applebees right down the block and an Olive Garden up on 47th St, a few blocks north of the theater. Good, but typical to what you can get anywhere. There are some great smaller restaurants on Restaurant Row.....45th St. between 8th and 9th Ave. These restaurants serve excellent food, cater to pre theater diners and will have you in and out quickly and efficiently. I can also recommend Virgils on 46th for Barbecue, The Heartlad Brewery on 43rd for good old American food and Ollies on 43rd for excellent Chinese. Now, if you feel adventurous head out of the theater district a bit and go downto 31st and 5th Ave to Svenningson's for the very best lobster in NYC. This is a very reasonably priced seafood house that also serves american cuisine. The owner is a lobsterman fro Maine who flies in his seafood 3 times a week. We have dinner here quite frequently before going to the theater and you can walk from the restaurant up to the New Amsterdam theater directly up Broadway in 15 minutes.
Keep on asking any questions you might have and I'll be happy to provide answers!
