Tuesday, January 18th, dawned just a bit warmer. Dear Stepdaughter (DSD) groused that it was because she had to go home to the cold climes of Maryland that afternoon. We had breakfast for the last time at Boma and went back to the room to wait for bell services to pick up our luggage. The agreed upon plan was that DH would take DSD to the airport in the rental car while I used WDW transport to go over to the Poly, check in and then take DD to the Magick Kingdom. Well, as with all Best-laid Plans (tm) this one had a fatal flaw - Disney transportation. DH and DSD left and DD and I waited for a few minutes for them to get clear of the hotel and went down to get a bus for MK.

The past couple of days, Disney transport had been ok - nothing fantastic, but no real complaints. But this particular morning we watched as 3 and 4 buses each for EPCOT, AK, MGM or DTD came through and none for MK. My DD entertained the assembled masses at the MK waiting area by rolling on the ground. I'm so glad that I don't get hyper about such things. I figure she covered a good mile rolling back and forth. I finally decided that if an EPCOT bus came in I would take it and catch the monorail over to the TTC and on to the Poly. Having made that decision, only MGM and DTD buses showed up. Finally, 40 minutes after we got to the stop, a MK bus appeared. I loaded DD, diaper bag, stroller and me on and away we went.

We got to the resort monorail line just as one was pulling out. OK, not to bad, I figured another would be in soon. Then the phone rang - it was DH. He was in the Poly and where the heck was I. I told him to hang on and we'd be there shortly. And luckily the hotel monorail appeared rounding the curve from GF.

Once at the Poly and reunited with DH, we went to check in. When I made the reservations I had been unable to get any codes and so had decided if I were paying rack we would live with a view of the parking lot, but once actually there and looking around, I figured, what the heck and asked if they had anything with a water view available. They did, and even though I had to pay rack, it was worth it. We had room 3047 in Tahiti with a great view of the lagoon and MK.

By now DD was proclaiming her desire for lunch to all and sundry, so we went to Captain Cooks and got hamburgers. They were ok, nothing great. But they soothed the savage DD.

DH and I made the decision not to go to a park and to chill at the hotel. DH really liked the Poly. He liked the room with the view and the daybed, the food and the landscaping. It was ok as far as I was concerned but AKL is still my favorite.

DD had a nap and so did DH. I read some on the history of feasting for a class I was going to do for one of our re-enacting groups.

DH and DD awakened about the same time and with the same thought - food. So over we went to Kona Cafe. That place is amazing. Good food and (for WDW) decent prices. I ordered the duck pot stickers to start and DH had the crab cake. He loved it. I think my pot stickers were good - certainly the wrappers and the dipping sauce were. As for the filling, DD ate all of it. I had a brief taste and it was not too shabby.

After dinner we shopped a bit and got a couple of bottled cocktails for the room and some snacks. Went back and watched NCIS, the Electrical Parade and the weather channel and had a drink and some chips. Just a nice relaxing day. DD asked about 20,000 times were the dragon from the parade went and where Mickey go - so we decided to do MK with her the next day.

We had a similar bus experience this summer one day at ASMo. There were many of us waiting for MK and nothing came; very unusual, as their bus service is one of the best we've experienced. We got a CM at the resort after 10 full minutes of waiting (we handled it appropriately and didn't get angry). We had the number of buses and their destinations in hand to tell them. They got on it right away and a bus appeared within minutes.
