Hi - I saw in a couple of posts that it's possible to take a boat from MK to Ft.Wilderness to catch the Hoo-De-Doo.

Sounds perfect for us since we're spending the day in MK and have a reservation for the 5pm show at HDD.

Here's what I was hoping you guys could tell me -

1. Do you get the boat at the same place as the ones that go across the lagoon to TTC?

2. How long is the boat ride?

3. How often do the boats leave WDW for Ft.W.

4. How far is the walk from the boat to Hoo-De-Doo once it's docked -we have an arthritic grandma with us who will already be tired from a long day in the MK :)

Thanks a Bunch!

Hi!

Let me see if I can remember... I just did this in December.

The dock is beside the one that goes to the TTC. It is a small boat and I think the landing was just to the right of the TTC dock. It will have a sign overhead that says "Wilderness Lodge/Fort Wilderness Campground". It will go to both places, with the Fort Wilderness stop being the second. This is the stop you want.

The boat ride was about fifteen minutes including the stop at Wilderness Lodge.

We just missed a boat and had to wait 20 minutes for the next one... so I am guessing 20 minutes?

Once you dock you are really close the Pioneer Hall... I would say... a two minute walk? It's not any further than the buses. If you did take the bus I think you would have to take two, one to the campground (still stops at Wilderness Lodge) and then another internal bus to Pioneer Hall.

I'd take the boat anytime... it's really pretty. They are a little small though so give yourself lots of time in case it fills up and you need to wait for another. There are benches and an awning for your grandma while you wait...

I hope that helps... can I come? *smiles*

We have an arthritic family member as well and I would just add that you can rent an ECV delivered to your hotel for her to use the entire length of your stay. It goes seamlessly from hotel room to park to bus to boats to your dining choices to monorail. We always rent from Walker Mobility and have had a great experience! There number is 1-888-scooter. It makes SUCH a HUGE difference in your whole experience. Them for comfort and independance and everybodys general peace of mind. You just plug it in before you go to bed and you're good to go all the next day and night.
