Another Free Internet Question

Hi,

I have a question about the "free" internet service for DVC members....

If I have a 2-bedroom villa, does this allow us to have free internet access in both rooms?

When we went this month, we had a 1-bedroom villa and I was able to easily connect without entering a code (as described by the front desk). I am thinking 2 connections would be the same, but was not certain if they only allow you to connect a single PC to the internet.

If you have a dedicated 2 bedroom - then I believe many times their is only one connection poiint- you can use a router to add more than 1 computer to it but normally in a 2 bedroom there is only 1 plug. If you have a lockoff you should have 2 spots. No matter what the connection configuration is they don't check on how many different devices are hooked up to it.

On our last trip earlier this month, I had to call to get a daily code just to log into the internet. But no charge since I am a member and we were staying on a MS reservation.

:confused3 I've never had to use a code. I just set up my router and surf. Is the code something new or related to your reservation type? (I'm assuming since you reference MS ressie - you were staying on site at WDW, but not at a DVC property.)

No, I was staying on my points reservation at OKW. Everytime the 24 hours passed, I would get an error message and need to call Customer Service who gave me a log in code.

I have never had to enter a code either. Just hook up the router, plug everything in and start surfing.

Enjoy your trip.

We haven't had that issue in the past at OKW (haven't stayed since the summer though)

At BCV last month, every 24 hours we had to visit the login page to enable the Internet. We did not need a code to do this, but without visiting the login page and activating the Internet every 24 hours, we could not get on. We originally thought we were having a problem with the router we had brought, but had the same experience even when we plugged directly into the modem.

As an early graduation gift, we made reservations for our college aged daughter and girlfriends for this March - I put the reservation under her name since we aren't going. Will she have to pay for daily internet access or since she is still a dependent of ours, will she get it free since we are DVC members?

Need to know so that they can budget the cost if they have to pay. As anyone with college age kids knows, they definitely need to have internet access daily.

I wonder if this is an OKW issue?

I think it might be. We don't ever have to get a code more than once, but we have found it does NOT work for multiple laptops. Once one is registered, the others have a lot of difficulty connecting, even through the router.

We had 4 laptops in the GV at OKW last week, and it seemed to only recognize the initial one. The rest of us either had to plug in directly to the internet point, or wait until the original person was finished. It was weird for sure!:confused3

If she is an associate on your contract and you give her your membership card, you should be fine.
