Another formal night dressing question

I am bottom heavy. Period. I am trying to learn to live with it. I had the dress I wanted to wear for formal night in mind...black, curvy, cap sleeves. You get the picture. I cannot find a dress. I can wear the top, or the bottom, but not both.

My question is (now that you survived my whine)...do any women wear pants suits on formal/ semi formal nights? And is that appropriate for Palos?

Sure--lots of ladies wear pantsuits for formal and/or semi-formal nights. Just remember how many movie stars wear pant suits at the Academy Awards!

Especially if you are trying to pack lightly, I recommend taking one pair of dressy black slacks and two different dressy tops. With some fancy sandals, you are perfectly set.

Donna, absolutely wear a dressy pants outfit and you'll fit in just fine. :)

I HATE dresses/skirts so Im planning on wearing a long black skirt for formal night. Have a different long black skirt (they have prints) for semi-formal night. And I have a long blue skirt for Palos which I'll wear to Lumiere's if we dont get to go to Palos dinner.

Then I wont need to wear high heels which I never wear anyways. When the boat gets tipsy I wont need to worry about falling overboard - lol

I have the same problem that you have.

You will NOT be out of place in pants. Black wide leg pants with a beaded or sequined top is just as dressy (maybe more) as a cocktail dress.

I wore a two piece set for semi-formal night, a lacey top and tea length black skirt. For Palo's I wore a black dressy pant suit. I did wear a gown for formal night though.

You might want to look for patterns that match what you are looking for, and then have someone make the outfit for you, you'd be suprised how inexpensive it can actually be, especially if you use an easy to work with fabric. There's also a two piece dress in the JC Penney catalogue that sounds a lot like what you were looking for, and it was very reasonably priced. A good tailor could alter it to fit you just right :)
