ANOTHER footwear question

Hey Pumpkinfish! I (as always) vote for Clarks sandals - that footbed cannot be beat and they are fine if wet. I wear mine all over BG Williamsburg and at the end of the day my feet feel no different than when we started! However, if you decide to go the Tevas route I must tell you that they are on sale this week at Rack Room and they are also having a buy one get one half off sale which you could apply to the purchase ( I spent quite a bit of time in the store yesterday looking for a new pair of Clarks!). By the way, we're going to be at the BC at the same time you will be in WDW! Enjoy!:sunny:

frndofpooh,
Aren't you excited!?! It is getting so close I can almost smell the popcorn at MK. Every night before we go to sleep, my DH and I say how many more days we have left until we leave. :Pinkbounc

Rack room shoes, huh? That is good to hear. I was gonna head out today to get some storm supplies beofre we feel the slight wrath of Charley, and I now am adding Rack Room to my list. At least I can try them on and know for sure.

How long are you taying in WDW frndofpooh?

We're staying until 9/18 - celebrating 10 years of marriage with a little time away from the kiddos. My husband and I also end just about every night with a count of the days left. Counting becomes more pronounced when the kids are bickering!!! Good luck with the shoes and Charley. Perhaps some swim fins may be in order for the weekend?::yes::

Swim fins is exactly what I am thinking. I am so tired of this rain. I didn't get to Rack Room today due to traffic being an issue, and I wanted to keep an eye on Charley.

DH and I are celebrating 4 years of marriage. No kids yet, but in the future, yes :hyper:

Good luck yourself with Charley. hopefully it will die out and not continue to strengthen.

while you're at it check out Nike Straprunners. I wear mine all day at disney world. I have Tevas also but I don't like them as much!

I found a pair of tevas while shopping last nite. I also own birkenstocks. ANd you can get the waterproof ones too!
I cant wait to wear my tevas though ,when I tried them on they were 100 times more comfortable then my Birks. Thanks to these boards when I saw the tevas in the store I tried them on immediately because of all the great reviews I read on these boards last month. SO ONCE AGAIN THANKS DISERS:earsgirl:  :earsboy:

I am a physical therapist & I can certainly understand how important appropriate shoes are at WDW.

1st - you need a sandal that has as much cushioning as possible. Some sandals will offer more stability but typically that is not what an arthritic foot wants.

2nd - if you look at the sole of the shoes - look at a bunch - you will see that some are pretty straight & some are quite curved. You *should* do best with a curved sole.

Check out http://www.footsmart.com. They offer quite a few sandals & are running a sale now. At least it will give you some ideas to look for in stores. You will be better off trying them on. I have not personally tried the Romikas but I have had patients comment on how comfortable they are. Rememer, everyone is different.

I have also had patients recommend Timberland sandals: http://timberland.com.

Good luck & have fun!

http://www.footsmart.com

I just tried this & it worked. I copied & pasted the above.

I see now....Take out the period at the end of the original sentence! so it's .com, NOT .com.

Then it will work.

Good luck.

I was at Hudson Trail Outfitters last week and slipped my feet into some Chaco sandals. OMG, those things were like a dream to me. They had a very substantial arch support for a sandal (good if you pronate) and felt wonderful. Cost about as much as Teva's but feel better. The woman at the register says that's all she wears in the store now because she is on her feet all day. Try them out.

I vote for Birkenstocks! They are ergonomically correct and for a sandal that are so comfortable! They are a little pricey, but IMHO, they are well worth it!

:love:Love Merrell sandals:worship:--am on my second pair of the convertible style(where you can take off the back strap) and they are really amazing! They are contoured which I thought would be uncomfortable as they are not made specifically for your feet but WOW I have never had any problems!!
My lower back bothers me quite a lot if I am walking but when I wear these sandals its heaven:cloud9:
They are even comfortable when they get wet and I have never had a blister-----IMHO Merrell is the way to go!!:teeth:

I too love Birks but after wearing them around at work on concret for 8-10 hours they did not help my poor knees at all. I haave tried on Teva's but they did not have the arch support or support of the straps that I was looking for. I just found that there is a Teva that has more arch and more sturdier straps but not at the stores I had been shopping in. I did purchase some Ecco's sandals this summer. I had been looking for something I could wear at Disney and not worry about getting wet. I loved how they fit. Not sure if they would stand up to the abuse I would give them at Disney. Tried them out at The Mall of America and Ikea. They were great. I have been breaking them in slowly so my feet will be fine I am thinking.

Try to make it a ritual to go to the resorts' hot tub every nite. I thought that that was very helpful to my bad knees. It made sleeping alot easier after a good soak at nite. The warm water and flow of the water over the knees were like heaven.

Good luck find the sandals that are right for you. I tried many a pair before settling on the Ecco's. If there is a shoe store near you that will actual help fit you properly you might want to try that. The stores usually will carry all these brands and some other ones that you might want to test drive.

Good Hunting.
