Hi y'all.

This is Emiel writing an update for Yvet but this message is dictated by herself.

Everything was going smoothly. When we arrived at the hospital we first had our intake and after that it was immediately my turn to go to the operating room.
The doctor came to visit me in the recovery room to give me some eye drops that already sedated my eye a bit.
After that they drove me into the operating room where they gave me the partial anaesthesia.
After that they started operating (I will spare you the details). It all took about an hour and then I was back at the recovery room.

After 5 minutes at the recovery room they came to pick me up to bring me back to my hospital room (thank god they picked me up quickly because I needed the restroom very badly).
They brought me some food and called Emiel that he could come to see me. When Emiel arrived I could change back into my normal clothes. They gave me some painkillers and then I could go home.

After arriving back home I went to bed and slept a bit took in some new painkillers.
I have watched a bit television, had some dinner took some painkillers again and checked the boards (with some help from Emiel).

Right now I'll take some rest and go to bed again. Tomorrow I have to go back to the hospital again so I'll keep you updated.

**Kevin I won't forget our deal, maybe I can't see it, but I won't forget it

Sounds like things went well and that is great!

Glad to hear it went smoothly :goodvibes

Now you have to let it heal :thumbsup2

Hope it isn't too painful and that the pain killers help.

We'll join you and Kevin in a toast to good eyes :cheer2:

I hope you are healing well, Yvette. Good luck!!!:grouphug:

Yvet, I am glad to hear the surgery is behind you and that you are recuperating at home. Take it easy and I hope to hear good news soon.

Holy cow! Every time I'm logging onto the Disboards, it's like I'm at Ophthalmology grand rounds!

I should get CME credit for this.

Yvet - Best wishes for a very fast, uncomplicated recovery.

I have very poor eyesight (that is corrected by contact lenses), but I can sympathize with how difficult it must be to deal with on a constant basis.

Glad to hear the procedure went well!

Beth:goodvibes

I'm glad things went smoothly today. I hope your recovery is just as smooth. Take care of yourself. :grouphug: pirate:

Yvette, I'm glad things went smoothly. Sorry I didn't read this earlier to offer up my support, but now that you've had your surgery, here's hoping that your healing goes smoothly, painlessly, and very quickly!

Yvet,
Hope recovery continues to go well!

 Yvette! How could I have missed this thread??
I wish you a speedy and full recovery! ::yes::

Let me start by telling everybody that i love all the good wishes and that the support is feeling awesome!!!

Here is an update.

I'm typing this by myself so maybe there are some typo's that i didn't see :rotfl2: .

Monday evening i went to bed and thank god on my bare knees that i don't have to lie face down like Kevin does....
I woke up every hour orso because my eye hurt or i was lying the worng way.
I don't have to lie face down but i cant lie on my right side, then the presure is build op and my eye will hurt even more, i do have to wear a special protection eyepad.

Emiel had another day off yesterday to take care of me.
We went in the afternoon to the Hospital again to see the doctor (shout i didn't ate enough apples...) it's normal to have the day after a controle appointment.
The doctor removed my eyepad and i could see....

I couldn't see that much better then before the operation but that was also not what the doctor expected.
Because the cystes in my retina i still can't see much and everything is still blury and that's probably going to stay that way for a while.
But because of the scarf tissue i also didn't only see blurry but it looked like you looked thru a foggy window.
And that's gone!!!! I see blurry but i see bluur thru a cleaned window....

The problems right now that are still in my eye are that there are still cystes in my retina and they don't know if it will go away by itself or that i need some injections in the eye and pills for that. The scarf tissue was pulling on my retina so maybe now that that's gone maybe the cystes will disappear for now the doctor doesn't know that.
At the back of my lense there is also a bit of tissue and they can remove that with laser (they did that also in September) and the doctor want first my eye to heal from this surgery and then with the next appointment he will decide what and when to do something with that tissue.

I've got an appointment for march 10 so that's 5 weeks from now and then the doctor will decide what to do next and how we are going to approuch the rest of my eye problems.

The pain is okay, i can mannage it with painkillers (just plain Advil and asprine).

After the appointment whe went to the pharmacie to get my eye drops (i'm allergic to some eye drops so i always check double) and then we went home.
I wached some television but soon that was just to much so i went to bed and listen to the podcast (i saved up), when Emiel came to bed he gave me my eye drops (the first days after an operation i'm scared to do taht by myself) and they even didn't hurt!!!!

Last night went better then yesterday night, i slept quit a bit and didn't have to wake up to take some painkillers.

This morning Emiel went back to his work again and before he left he gave me my eyedrops again and this time it was not that party after all.
The drops didn't hurt but he needs some light to give them to me (it's okay that i don't see a thing but he want to see it all) and that light hurt badly (that's only the first half hour/hour) so i couldn't open my eye that much as needed.
But this is not the first (and probably not the last) operation so we already knew that this is one of the things that can happen so we don't freak out anymore about it and just try it until it works.

The good part of all this is: it's my right eye and for Kevin it's his left so together we have at least one good pair, but we are aiming for 2 good pairs.
And know that we will be watching you!!!!!

Hang in there, honey. You know we're all pulling for you!

Good luck with your recovery Yvet. Good thoughts and a speedy recovery.....and two new podcasts to listen to this weeks....
