Just sold my DWs bouncy castle on Ebay. The buyer was coming to collect and pay for the castle in cash tomorrow. All well and good - until we got a phone call tonight saying he can no longer afford the castle so won't be buying it :headache::mad::mad:

We now have to wait 7 days before we can report it as an un-paid item and claim back the selling fees (nearly £40!).

We are so annoyed!

I hate it when that happens, did you have any other bids on the item? If so you can send them a second chance offer and 9 time out of 10 they will take it.

I hope that you manage to get it sorted out.

I'm sure with the warmer weather appouching you can get it resold quickly Tim.
A little pixie dust just to make sure pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

How annoying! I guess they at least phoned to let you know (some would probably have just left you hanging) but still a pain when you were expecting the money. Also sucks that us sellers can't leave non-paying buyers negative feedback anymore :headache:

I agree. There should be some indication in your eBay profile that you have had an unpaid item strike against you. From what I can see ebay does nothing as long as they get their money. It seems to take quite a lot for an account to be suspended. All this 'legally binding contract' stuff doesn't really hold any water.

the more I read about Ebay and they way they are treating their customers lately it is making me want to try another auction site, but which ones are any good?

You can't see if a person has an unpaid strike but the person who has can apparently. Sellers can set theirs preferences to bar anyone bidding if they have 2 or more unpaid strikes against them.

Hope you manage to sell it again quickly Tim

I agree that selling on Ebay is becoming less and less attractive. Apart from the fees they seem to offer little protection if people pull out of sales or abuse the system. This will be our last sale on Ebay - it's just too much hassle now.

We have had someone contact us about our smaller castle that didn't reach it's reserve and they are now interested in the larger one. So hopefully we can still make a sale :)

Oh Good I hope you sell them Tim! :)

I didn't know that! How do you do it? I'm selling my Mac, and I really don't want the hassle of having to relist it if I get a time waster! Especially as it cost £6.50 to list!!
