After my last DVD player fiasco, I found out that the DVD player that I had wasn't compatable to my television. So, I returned that one and bought a new one. I got it all set up according to instructions (maybe this is where my mistake is! :) ), and nothing happens. The power on my DVD player comes on, and the display screen says "playing," but I don't see anything on my television besides the regular Channel 3 programming. I have checked all the wires, and they're all in tightly. What else could be wrong?

I've never heard of a DVD player not being compatible with a TV!?!?!?!

It sounds like perhaps your TV is not set to the correct input. Does your TV have a "Video in" connector, or a "Cable TV" type connector that the DVD player is hooked to?

(Sorry, but I missed the thread about your previous DVD player experience)

Have you all seen the commercial (for Radio Shack, I think) with everyone crying because their new Christmas presents don't work with their TV's? It's a hoot, Dad's in the fetal position with his DVD player sobbing because he can't use it :p :p :p

Yes, do you have an input on your remote...that would change to TV, DVD, VCR ?...we have this on ours and you have to change the input before it will show up on the TV...

Good luck! I know how frustrating it is!

No, I don't have an imput button on my remote, but I do have imput connections on the back of my TV and DVD player. There are audio and video connections with corresponding wires - I've connected every wire in to every possible connection, and still nothing. Help!

First of all, your TV shouldn't even be on channel 3 for you to be able to see it.

You need to change your TV to Video 1 or Video 2 or Aux depending on how your TV has it set up. Mine is done through the remote.

I agree with wvjules. Mine is not played off of channel 3 or 4 like you might be used to with your VCR. Try using the Aux channel. It should be located before channel one. If you do not have a specific button you can press on your remote to get to it, just down channel from channel 3 until you get there.

You may need to read the manual for the TV to figure out how to switch it to external video input. I agree that it should not be on channel 3, but on a video input.

With one of our tvs you push the "TV/video" button on the remote. With another you push channel down when you are on channel 2.

I know it's frustrating, but I am sure you will be able to figure it out. :)
