When you go on the DVC tour - do you get to pick what villa you want to see or do they take you to whatever is available?
Thanks,
Rick

if you take the tour at wdw they have all the models that are up for sale. i just add on i could not make up my mind between akl or blt so i took a peek at both of them. i like animal kingdom better than blt but blt is the lease expensive in maintenance fees but higher in points to stay there

The tour takes place at the sales center at SSR. The van will pick you up and bring you there. They have models (currently) of BLT and AKV to view.

(it's not part of the tour - but if you're around the boardwalk area anyway, be sure to stop by the BWV model on the boardwalk.)

The two models, BLT and AKV are to two that DVD is currently pushing. Last I heard, all resorts are still available for direct sale through Disney. The Guides don't volunteer the info because their marching orders are to sell AKV and BLT.

OP .. sorry to jump in on your post, by I think my question ties in with yours.

If you sign up for a DVC tour and are interested in one of the properties other than the current offering of BLT and AKV, will your guide help you make arrangements to see the villas you are interested in?

I'm think specifically of VWL - would like to be able to compare it firsthand to BLT. Is it possible to see a VWL unit on our DVC tour? (I realize we would have to leave the sales center at SSR to do so.) If not, how could we go about seeing those villas if we couldn't arrange to do so through our DVC tour? (Do we just ask at the front desk of the WL or ???)

No they won't help you tour the other resorts. I get the impression that they don't get the same commission rate on the older resorts.

We went to each resort that we wanted to tour and asked at the front desk. Some took the time to help, others didn't.

Remember that the front desk staff are contracted vendors to the DVC. Yes they all work for Disney, but the have different agendas. There isn't any direct benefit for the front desk to take up their time showing you around.

WL was very nice and had their "runner" take us over to the Villas. BCV had us wait for over an hour, then told us to come back the next day because they were too busy.

Thanks for the quick reply ... we have an ADR for Whispering Canyon Cafe on our upcoming trip ... so it can't hurt to ask to see a villa at that time.

Anyone know the hours of the Sales Center? We'll be there in April, and if we don't buy sooner, we'll probably do the tour.

If you stop by the DVC kiosk at any of the resorts or at the parks they will make arrangements for a tour for you. Arrangements will be made to pick you and take you over to the Preview Center and return you when you are done. You will also probably be given meal passes and or fast passes for a ride of your choice.
Our guide is Susie Farnsworth. She has always been great.
