Another DVC Question

Do point values for DVC resorts increase? For example, if I purchase 300 BWV point to stay in a 1 BR in early Dec., could the same room cost me 315 points the next year (assuming I'm staying in the same "season")? Would I be required to purchase an additional 15 point the next year for the same vacation?

The number of points required for a particular size unit during a particular time period can indeed change. If it goes up in one season, it must go down in another, so that the total for a unit size to be occupied all year is unchanged.

This keeps it fair to all owners, in a sense. But it can mess with your plans if you must travel at a certain time and are counting on that number of points to secure the identical vacation (unit size and dates) yearly.

It's really to accommodate changing holiday seasons ( Easter or Spring break) and to allow for any major change in the way people vacation, so if in the unlikely event scholl holidays changed from July and August to September it gives DVC the ability to reflect that different demand. As Lisa points out the annual total CAN NOT CHANGE, but there is the ability to juggle individual dates and seasons. I think early Dec changing much is very unlikely.

It's worth noting that in the history of DVC (11 years, I think), there has only been one such adjustment. Points for one season at OKW went up, and points for a different season went down correspondingly. I believe this was in the early days of DVC, before there was much history as to how DVCers would vacation. So the points by season were misaligned, and they corrected that.

I'm excluding floating holidays like Easter and Thanksgiving. Those are on a different day each year, and the points for the holidays "follow" them as they move.

Other than that, your 300 points would get you the exact same accomodations every year. I wouldn't think this would change, since DVC has gotten good at balancing out usage. I supopse it's possible that some day they may want to lower weekend points, and raise weekday points to match. I can't think of anything else, though.
