Can someone please tell me what kind of DIET drinks they have on the cruise? I need specific brands please! Do they anythign other then diet colas? Do they have Crystal Light by any chance?? I'm diabetic, so I can't have the sugar sodas! Thanks!!!

I believe the only DIET is diet coke.

But if you like crystal lite so much.....have you seen the individual pack things that are about the size of a stick of gum that you can add to water bottles......They work really well. The are sold in packs of ten in a little box.

Wal-mart has them and has a generic brand one too.

karebear, we're cruising with you and have the same problem. The iced tea is unsweetened and there is plenty of sugar substitutes available...Mark

OH! Diet Sprite is good! I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed!

Crainbow.... didn't I say in my title not THAT kind of drinking!?!?!?!? ;)

Mark & Sandra, thanks for the tip about the iced tea.

karebear...yes, diet sprite was available at the deck 9 drink station on the Magic at Thanksgiving 2004. I could not get it in the restaurants though which was disappointing...could get diet coke though. I am a recent diabetic so I did the best I could. Thank goodness for DS (12), he was usually kind enough to offer to bring a diet sprite back when he'd go to deck 9...just never knew when he'd return. lol

As for the tea served onboard...it's not brewed! :sad2: The choices of sugar substitutes are the usual...pink or blue stuff. I prefer Splenda and did not see it any where on our 7 night cruise.

Please set your mind at ease that is it possible to eat and eat nicely on the cruise and still maintain your blood sugars. I was only diagnosed on November 1st and boarded DCL on the 20th...I thought I was a goner. I ate fresh fruit everyday, indulged in pasta for a couple of meals, and yes! I ate dessert and was able to keep my glucose levels between 95 and 115 for the week. Be assured there are at least 3 sugar free options at dinner every night and are tasty! I think part of what helped me maintain my levels was that I was active on the cruise...it was quite nice walking on deck with DH or the few late night romps with DS exploring the ship.

If you know yourself and what to avoid you will be fine!

I can confirm diet sprite is in the drink stations (not all of them, but most of them). I was told that you can get it in the dining room, but there's a charge because they only have it in a can (DS asked for it at our embarkation). You can also brew your own iced tea if you like it that way. There's hot water and tea bags up there, and the dining rooms have it too.

Another sugar free dining room option is club soda. I had club soda with lime every night for dinner. DH asked for tonic water and lime our first night, and was told the same thing about a charge because it was in a can, so he just had diet coke. But when we ate at Palo, he ordered tonic and lime and our server brought it. I assumed we'd be charged, but it wasn't on our bill. I'm not sure if there's sugar in tonic water or not but I know soda water is sugar free.
