Is having them get your bags for you at baggage claim really worth it if you have to wait several hours at your resort to get them? Although I like the idea of getting off the plane and going directly to the bus, I've never really found it terribly tedious to get the bags from baggage claim. It takes like what, 15 minutes? We'll be arriving at 10:45 a.m. on Sat, Sep 3rd. So, I figure we'll be at POR by around 12:30 or so. We were kinda planning on just hanging out at the resort, swimming and stuff and then going to dinner at Boma that night. To do that, we'd have to pack our swimsuits and stuff in our carryon luggage and keep checking to see when our luggage arrives. Wouldn't it just be easier to pick up the bags ourselves and haul them to the bus? Just wondering. Thanks.

I just previewed my post. Oh. My. God. Does that countdown say 21 DAYS? :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :teeth:

I completely agree with you. I don't find it a hassle to get our own luggage either and would actually rather get it ourselves. We'll be using these buses in June for the first time, so I'm anxious to read others opinions on your question.

Why would you have to keep checking? It's delivered right to your room. If it isn't delivered within 4-5 hours (way overestimating delivery time) - then you can "check." Just pack your swimsuits in your carryon and enjoy the pool. Besides, if your room isn't ready, you would have to check your luggage at bell services and then have it delivered after your room is ready, anyway. I don't see any advantage to hauling your luggage yourself. It seems that everyone is so paranoid that they are defeating the purpose of DME - less hassle!!

No matter where I travel, I ALWAYS pack my carry-on with EVERYTHING I will need for the first 24 hours of my vacation. I prepare for the possibility that the AIRLINE will delay my luggage -- it's happened to me twice in 15 years. I began doing this long before I ever heard of DME. When I used DME on May 8, it really didn't matter to me when my luggage arrived, since I was prepared for anything. I arrived at the resort at 10:30 a.m., and my luggage "magically appeared" some time in early afternoon when I was at the pool with my wife and pre-schoolers, enjoying a stress-free beginning to our wonderful WDW vacation.

Try it right now: Pack a carry-on bag with a bathing suit, a change of clothes, PJs, medications, and toiletries. It doesn't take up much space.

Except for cruises, it's pretty unique to be able to travel without waiting for and dragging around your suitcases. When I had the opportunity to do this, it felt like a great bonus, like it just made things that much easier and enjoyable. But if you're going to stress over it rather than bask in it, it's certainly not worth it and you should by all means go get your luggage. I just hope the airline doesn't accidentally send it to MCI (Kansas City) or MPO (Mt. Pocono) instead of MCO.
