Another Disney Visa Question

Disney Visa is offering a $200.00 gift card for new members and another $50.00 gift card for adding an authorized user. My husband and I are considering getting one and saving up the rewards for a big Disney world trip we are taking December 2017.

Should we get the standard card with no annual fee and 1% back on everything or the premier card with a 49.00 annual fee but 2% back on gas, grocery, restaurants, and Disney purchases (1% on everything else?)

We would be using the card for our everyday things (paying it off every month.) We also would use it to book 2 different Disney trips in the next 18 months.

What do you think? Is the premier worth the fee or should we go with the standard card?

My fiance and I recently switched over to the Premier card. We share one card, and it works out great. We use this card for the vast majority of our purchases. We ran the numbers and for us we found that the 50 dollar annual fee was worth it. Because we will be getting 2% back on everything Disney, gas, groceries, and restaurants. Those 4 things are really the majority of our purchases anyways.

I think the best answer to your question would be for you guys to weigh your options. For us, the $50 dollar annual fee is worth it, but everyone's finances/financial situations are different.

You have to charge $5000 to break even on the Premier Card. We share one and will have about $2500 for our trip in November. We accumulate rewards between trips, about every 3-4 years. Well worth it.

We have the premier card and definitely worth it for us.

I don't think any rewards card is worth it unless you use it exclusively.

At this point in our lives, we like to go once A year or so.

We use the 2% and save a ton for Disney.

We know other cards have better deals...but since we know we are going to Disney...might as well save towards that.

We use for basically everything...but always for food and gas...which alone easily gets us to about 10000 a year.

Plus you get 10% off when spending more than 50 At most retail locations...and 10% At many restaurants.

Again...not the best rewards card...but if you know you are going and you get the 200 for opening it...it's well worth it.

It's perfect for us (we got the bonus too, which offsets the annual fee for several years), but 90% of my purchases are either grocery or restaurants (we buy most gift cards at the grocery), so we get the 2% on almost everything!

Where are you seeing this part of the deal. A friend had just been asking me about this and I told her about the $200 deal, but just looked on Disney & Chase and didn't see anything about the $50 part?

We pump all groceries and gas thorough it. Since we are DVC, the hotel is paid for. Add in this card which pays the park tickets and incidentals, and we basically go to Disney for the price of Airfare. :-)

I just switched to the premier card late last year. I downloaded all my spending on my various credit cards and sorted by category, then calculated how much my rewards would have increased if I'd had the premier card. It was well over the annual fee amount so I switched. Like a PP, I buy a lot of gift cards at a grocery store to cover my regular everyday spending so I get the 2% on a lot more than just groceries, gas, restaurants, and Disney.

We got an offer in the mail.

Wouldn't you only have to charge $2,500.00 to break even?

It depends on the type of item that it is. Disney stuff, gas, groceries, and restaurants are 2% back, everything else is 1%.

The only thing you can say for sure is you would have to charge between $2,500 and $5,000 worth of products to break even.

You'd have to spend $2,500 in the 2% categories to break even, but $5,000 in the 1% categories. Other thing to account for is that you can have the regular, no fee card and get 1% back so in order to make it worthwhile, you have to spend enough so that your rewards are at least $50 more than they would have been with the regular card.

Gotcha!! :goodvibes

So here's my question: How can I use the Rewards when our family is at WDW? We don't stay in a Disney hotel, but eat at least 1 and sometimes 2 meals in the parks....plus countless snacks. How could I use the Disney Reward Dollars for food and snack? And can you use it for souvenirs in Disney stores at the Parks?

You use the redemption card just like a gift card at any Disney location. Use on tickets, food, souvenirs, hotels if you were staying there.

A number of sit down restaurants offer 10 percent off with credit card. Also Disney merchandise is 10 percent off when you spend over 50.

Ah, so I get a Redemption Card before I get ready to go and use that in the Parks...got it !!!!! If you want to see what your balance is on the card, can they do that at the Parks when you use it????

With the 2% card you can redeem for "anything and everything" Disney, and also airfare.
