Another Disney Store validation....

I have a question, maybe someone will answer it. The original list included the still yet unopenned Disney Outlet store at the Williamsburg Prime Outlets, in Virginia. The new updated list posted does not include this store. So, is it going to open as planned or is it still on the chopping block? I wish I had an answer.

Hmmm...when we went to Foley, AL (an outlet mall center), the store there was already closed, and we were told they weren't reopening, BUT I don't see them on this list....

Maybe there is a little hope after all!

live 10 minutes from here. what is the word on this reopening or closing?

YOU'LL have to tell US!

My Mom lives in Pensacola, so we only get to go when we visit her. One store told us they were not coming back, and another store said they were.

There is a Coach store in the spot where they were.

If you go and find out anything, will you let us know?

I am so sorry so many of you are losing Disney stores but I can say this is the best move for Disney. The newer stores are nothing like what the old stores used to be like. The only authentic store we have in NY is the World of Disney in NYC. Now that is a Disney store.

All of Western NY is now Disney Store less.. We lost one a few months ago and now te other 3 in our area are closed. I am speechless. I am not even sure how far I will have to go to find the closest store now. These stores have been here for ever and now within a matter of weeks they are all gone:headache:  :sad2: What are they thinking...

I'm sure it is a CLOSING list. There is only one store listed for GA and it is not a big store or at a great mall. After that closes, we will only have 4 disney stores and one outlet left for all of GA.

And one of them is by me. (Douglasville) WOO HOO. Verified it myself yesterday.

I think all there is in NY now is Syracuse ( Carousel Mall ) and NYC - the World of Disney store. This really stinks.!!!

I just found out my store is closing. Now I'll have to stalk it each week for discounts. I was so sad today that the lady gave me two Disney Store Mickey ears for my boys. :sad2:

Does anyone know if Disney Store CM discounts will still work in the liquidating stores? I'd like to pay a visit to one of the ones that is closing, and am wondering if I can use my discount just in case I find something there that we don't have at my store.

No, CM discounts are not honored at the liquidation stores. In many cases, as the sales continue, the liquidation percentage will be better than your discount anyway.

The Mall Of America store was never on the closing list. Which is a great thing since we already had gone from 4 or 5 in the area to the one. We spoke with the store manager the other day just to clarify what the the time line on stock change out would be. They told us that it would be gradual over the next few months. They weren't able to share remodeling information with us but they did say that the transformation would take the store back to is former glory.

I can only hope that they will have many of the same things we could once get there (REAL Disney pins, cells & other things you can fine on WDW property).

I can't tell you how excited we are to finally have this piece of magic restored

One can only hope! I was so excited when they were remodeling. Every trip to the Mall I'd check on the progress, couldn't wait for them to reopen! They made such a big deal out of how they would be bigger and better than ever, and it was just the opposite! It was so disappointing. It will be interesting to see what happens now!

Remember the Warner Brothers Store they had when they first opened? I miss that one too!

I am so sad that my store closed but I will be at the one in our area that remained open but its 45 minutes North of me on the way to I-4 to the World. I don't understand why they close the store that was the #1 producing store in our district.

One thing that I learned when I was a TDS CM was that, just because you were #1 in sales in your district, didn't automatically mean that you were #1 in profitablity. Our store was often #2 or #3 in sales in our district because we were in a district with stores in larger metropolitan areas. BUT, we were always #1 in profitabllity. The SMs were very good at making the best use of allocated man hours and never going over, we were very efficient with what hardware we had and our mall lease was pretty reasonable.

I was at the store in Riverside yesterday. I bought a few things for my boys vacation surprises. After my transaction was done, and the CM handed me my bag, I asked her if that store would be closing. She said no, and the only one in her district that would is Moreno Valley (in a crappy mall). I told her I was glad to hear that. :yay: She then asked me for my phone number, which she typed into the register/computer. After that, she took a pen and put a tally mark on a tablet next to the register. It probably had 20-30 tally marks on it.

What do you think that was for?

Wow, I hadn't heard about this. I hope ours stays in business, it's the only one around here in the Cincy area.
Lesley

Being from South Cincinnati (Florence) there's one in the Florence Mall that always seems busy..wonder on it's status.

I can confirm that the Disney Store at Gwinnett Place Mall in GA is closing. I was there today and everything is 20% off.

They have lots of kids shirts, beach towels and other beach stuff. Snow Globes, stuffed animals, travel mugs and a lot more. No movies though. All of those were moved to stores that are staying open.

The person I spoke with didn't know when the discounts were going lower and since she wasn't a manager she said she didn't "feel comfortable" telling me the exact date the store would be closing.

That is standard procedure and has nothing to do with the store closings. The cash registers are old and don't have a lot of features. They ask for the phone number with every transaction, it links to your address and gets you on a mailing list to send coupons. The tally marks are to track sales. At our store, we make a tally mark in one column for each transaction, and in another column we make a mark for every "spotlight" item that is sold. (The "spotlight" item is whatever item is featured that week, dictated by a corporate office somewhere -- this week it's flip-flops and sunglasses for $3.00.) We do this for every hour of sales. It helps the store manager measure our productivity because it's something the cash registers can't track.

I don't think they know when the stores are closing. I think they will just keep progressively marking down the merchandise until it's gone, then close. Whatever doesn't sell will probably be donated to charity (that's what they normally do with items that can't be sold for whatever reason).
