Another Disney Store validation....

OK - Just an FYI...the list above is outdated and inaccurate. That list was derived from the original bankruptcy filing. Some of the stores on the list were given a reprieve. While others, not on the original list have been given the axe. Best thing to do is call your stores directly and ask. Don't go by any list.

Plus the Disney stores in CT

   They are really going to rely on the web site orders to keep things goin. I will tell you this I have ordered many many times from the site and have no idea why I keep doing it. About one out of every three orders has something missing or broken in the box. The return policy is a long one if you ned the item right away for a gift. It is much nicer to ride up to the store and buy things, however we are now down to one store in all of WNY by the looks of it. I am deeply sadened by this terriable news.

I went to my local Disney store in Austin, TX today, and they are remaining open and being remodeled to the "pixie dust" theming. I wanted to mention it, b/c they are not on the pp's list, so don't count yours out until you talk to them.

They may have been on the preliminary list, but as you can see from the updated and official, finalized list I just posted tonight, they are not closing. The list I posted tonight is about as official as it gets -- it's the one that those of us who work for the company received a couple of days ago.

Well...you didn't really clarify whether your list was those remaining open or those closing, and I've heard of/seen supposedly both. Full information is helpful. Thank you for taking the time to provide the list, and hopefully your store is remaining open.

The Mall Of America store was never on the closing list. Which is a great thing since we already had gone from 4 or 5 in the area to the one. We spoke with the store manager the other day just to clarify what the the time line on stock change out would be. They told us that it would be gradual over the next few months. They weren't able to share remodeling information with us but they did say that the transformation would take the store back to is former glory.

I can only hope that they will have many of the same things we could once get there (REAL Disney pins, cells & other things you can fine on WDW property).

I can't tell you how excited we are to finally have this piece of magic restored

Hmmm...when we went to Foley, AL (an outlet mall center), the store there was already closed, and we were told they weren't reopening, BUT I don't see them on this list....

Maybe there is a little hope after all!

I thought it would be obvious since the list is fairly short, compared to the total locations in the US. Anyway, I reclarified the list. It is the stores that are CLOSING.

And no, my store didn't make the cut. We're gone in 6-7 weeks. :sad1:

ARIZONA:
#480 Paradise Valley Mall, Phoenix
#7072 Desert Ridge, Phoenix

This is accurate according to the managers of 5 of the Disney stores here in Phoenix. We made it a point these past two weeks to go to 5 of the stores....and they all confirmed that these two are going. Arrowhead, which is actually "gone" right now WILL be coming back. It was closed for a remodel only, though they have no timeline of when it will be back. Given that it's the only store in the west valley, and there are several others that are quite close together, this would make sense (not that Disney always operates on sense).

Another thing that TWO of the store managers have told me....you will soon be able to get a discount for showing your Annual Pass!!! One manager said it was 15%....the other said she'd read the papers but didn't remember exactly, thinking it was 10%. The other stores all said that they had a stack of papers from the changeover and hadn't read all of it yet, they were working on it, lol. One of them showed me "today's" papers and it was probably 1/2" thick at least....and she said her desk is covered with more. While they were definitely upbeat, you could tell that this was pretty hard on them.

The San Tan store is of course the newest....and the design is VERY different from the other stores. When they first opened the CM at that store said that all the stores would eventually change to that design, but she didn't have a timetable.

In reading the article someone posted here, the San Tan store is definitely the design discussed. It's different, and I'm something of a traditionalist, lol...so I can't say I love it....but it's a very pleasant store to shop in...the multiple video displays definitely change the feel. Let's face it, I'm old, and though I grew up on MTV, it was ONE television screen thank you....not 4 of them with different things happening on each, so I personally find it a bit distracting and noisy....but it's everywhere these days so my overloaded brain is getting more used to it.

So.....I dug out my AP which I'd safely tucked in a drawer so as not to lose it....and now it's in my wallet awaiting our going to the closing stores later this week. The manager did say she didn't think the AP discount was valid at the closing stores, but I figure I need to get it into my wallet so I don't lose out on the discount again (thankfully it was a small purchase)...and I figure I'll flash it and see if I get a discount or not at the liquidation.

I am thankful that our state did not have many closing...considering that on the east valley there are 4 within 15 minutes drive of each other, I was really shocked that we didn't lose more. It obviously has more to do with sales volume than location. Sadly the Desert Ridge store didn't really get to show it's potential...it just opened in January, 2008......and there wasn't any advertising of it's opening that I saw. It's also tucked inside a mall, with no signs out at the freeway, so it was probably doomed to begin with. Paradise Valley surprised me because that's definitely the "high income" area of the valley...but maybe the rich folks around here aren't Disney fans. It wasn't a store I frequented because the stores around it are so overpriced, lol.

I'm sure it is a CLOSING list. There is only one store listed for GA and it is not a big store or at a great mall. After that closes, we will only have 4 disney stores and one outlet left for all of GA.

thank you for updating the list!! MY STORE has a reprieve - it was on an "original' list, but isnt on your updated list!! ( IL - Westfield Hawthorn Mall) I agree the change was definately noticed - and I do hope it goes back to a more Disney-esque store!!

I thought it would be obvious since the list is fairly short, compared to the total locations in the US. Anyway, I reclarified the list. It is the stores that are CLOSING.

How sad that your store is closing, thank you for sharing the list with the rest of us!

Originally our store at the Maine Mall was going to stay open. Last week we received the news we were closing. A big shock for us CMs and the guests are very sad also..... There will now be NO stores in Maine.....:sad2:

Mickey & Donald -

Thank you so much for posting the updated list! I am so sorry to hear your store is closing! I am very excited though - - it looks like we will have one store close by (Outlets at Hershey, PA). Based on the original list, I was going to lose all four stores that are within a 45 minute drive of my house - -now it looks like we are keeping the outlet store and losing the three regular mall stores.

Pittsburgh Area People:

I was at Ross Park Mall today and the store there is closing. According to the satff there will be one remaining store in the Pittsburgh area- South Hills Village- YAY! I am glad there will at least be one! It will be a hike for us, but we'll go every now and then still.

I'm relieved to hear this news! I'm about 10 min from South Hills Village! So glad we will still have our Disney Store!

Does anyone have any pictures of the new remodeled style of store? I've seen two store styles in my area and neither one of them sound like the style mentioned in the OP. I'm very curious as to what it looks like and would love to see some pictures -- and hope that my store will be remodeled!
