Another Disney Store validation....

I haven't read all the pages yet, but I see you are also from Southeastern MA. I usually shop at the one in Braintree which is in a Simon Mall. Where do you go? Did you see any MA stores that looked like they were not being bought by Disney and going to close?:confused3

Looks like all the Massachusetts are safe

Taunton ( where I shop)
Marlborough
Saugus
Holyoke
Braintree
North Attleboro

Looks like my Orland Park, IL Simon Mall store is staying open! We have to at least walk through the store every mall trip!:)

Thanks for posting the list of those closing. Looks like the Roanoke, VA store will be staying open, yeah!

A few weeks ago I noticed our Disney store in our mall in CT was being cleared out, the gates were closed and since then they closed off the front of the store and removed all of the Disney tiles on the front of the store and now it is just empty space so I am afraid that it might not come back. I love that store . I hope it is coming back!!!

Both of the Disney Stores in North Atlanta Suburbs (Mall Of Georgia) and (Gwinnett Mall) are Simon Malls. I could understand the one in Gwinnett closing but not the one in Mall of Georgia. It is extremely busy. But we will just have to wait and see,:goodvibes

You're fogetting about the new HUGE one in Discover Mills

You're fogetting about the new HUGE one in Discover Mills

To tell you the truth I never go there, did not know Disney Store was in that mall. It appears by the links that Gwinnett place will close. Mall of Georgia is staying, North Point and Discover Mills are staying. I will have to go to Discover Mills now and check it out. Thanks:goodvibes

ANNEX G:
Remaining Stores (not expected to be acquired by Disney)

MO
Chesterfield Towne Center
Crestwood Plaza
St. Louis Galleria
Westfield Mid Rivers
Independence Center
St. Louis Mills

Just to add one more that was left off of your list for MO:
Zona Rosa

I live just a few miles from the Oak Park Mall store in the KC area, so I guess I'm glad to see that it will remain open. But it's a shame that Zona Rosa will be closing. It was a really beautiful store. :sad1:

Thanks for transcribing everything and posting it here!

I've never been in the DM store either. I am in Cumming, so I am the same distance from both the MOG and Northpoint.

However, the NP store is one of the changed stores, and we hate it. So, whenever possible, we stick with the old-designed MOG store....

So, when you say, "HUGE," what are we talking about? Bigger than the MOG's store?

DM is a little far for me, but I might do it on a weekend if it's worth it....what's it decorated like? The older Disney-themed stores or the new and sterile Children's Place version?

Oh no :sad2: I was happy that Zona Rosa wasn't on the list, i'm sad to see it was accidentally left off. My usual store is at Independence Center, but I will drive the extra miles to go to Zona Rosa, it's such a nice store. I won't drive over to Oak Park, it's too far, so it looks like no more Disney store for me :sad1:

The Canadian stores on the list too. Just not on this thread. Go to the link posted in one of the earlier posts, and you will see the Canadian stores in the documents.

Found the list of "Canadian Retained Stores Schedule". I'm assuming these are the ones staying open? If so, yeesh! There's only 3 on the list! 2 of which are GTA (only one of which I've been to, and it's kinda small), and one in NB. I understand not wanting to oversaturate, but at least keep the good stores rather than keeping the smaller more out of the way ones.:sad1: I guess I can be thankful that one of the ones staying is just down the street from me (until I move) though.

Or is "retained" like remaining, meaning those are the ones closing?

I don't think the Zona Rosa store is closing. I just started working at the Oak Park Mall store, and there's been a lot of talk of the changeover, and both my manager and my Store Manager have said that our store and the Zona Rosa stores are doing great and are not expected to close. The one in Independence does not do very good sales and is closing.

If you come into the Oak Park store on a weekday evening or a Saturday, come find me and say hi! I'm still in training, so I'll be the girl who looks like I don't know what I'm doing yet (and who doesn't have a nametag yet :sad1: ) so just ask for the new girl! I always love to meet new DISers and we don't seem to have very many in the KC area.

Not all the store in the Burlington Mall was shut down 2 weeks ago, now I have no store near me for browsing through at lunch. :scared: I have to make a pit stop at Braintree now to get my fix when needed. And yes, it is a Simon Mall and that is probably why it was shut down.

:rotfl:
Looking forward to this changeover. We have 3 or 4 here in New Orleans so hopefully at least one will remain open. I hope even more that they return to the way they used to be before they got to be "kids garbage only with one adult shirt tucked in a dark corner".

Bring back old school Disney Stores that sell things that people over 3 years old will be interested in! :dance3:

Yes. And that "adult" stuff is NOT adult... it's teenage LOL! No I really don't want jeans that go that low on my hips. (I am a middle age woman, my stomach does not appear naked in public!:lmao: ) No, everything does NOT have to have "sparkles" on it. And no, it does not all have to be produced using the cheapest production methods possible.

The way they are now the whole chain can just shut down as far as I am concerned.

This jsut doesn't make sense to me. :confused3 The Disney Store in Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL is not on the list, so that means it is closing.
Woodfield Mall is the second or third largest mall in the country. People come from surrounding states on tour buses to shop there and they are closing that store? I am NOT happy about this! The closest store would be on Michigan Avenue in Downtown Chicago and there is no way I am driving down there and pay $25 for parking and probably another $15 in gas.
I am really disappointed. Give the people in the northwest suburban Chicago Disney fans some love please!:flower3:

We are from MA too and our Disney Store is in the Holyoke Mall which is a Pyramid Mall. Our mall is making all of our stores do remodels, which the Disney has not done yet, so I wouldn't be surprised if our store closes. I would be sad, but not surprised at all. My Disney Store does have a managers position posted in our Mall Employment book, not sure if that is an indication that they are not closing though, most time the managers and store employees are the last to know.

I think a lot of people are confused about the list that has been posted. The "Retained" list appears to be a list of stores retained by Hoop Retail, i.e. not acquired back by Disney, i.e. closing. If your store is not on the list, that is a good thing, it should not be closing.

I freaked out when I first saw the list because there are only about 5 stores in Texas listed, with dozens more not listed. I was very relieved when I realized these stores will be staying open, including the one at my local mall, a small store that opened a year ago. I knew it didn't make sense for Disney to reject stores such as the store at the Houston Galleria Mall or the newly-remodeled store at Willowbrook Mall. I just visited both of these stores on Saturday, and the Willowbrook Mall store has an incredible selection, including items I have found out-of-stock online!

I wonder what's going to happen to all of those CM's in the stores being closed. :sad1:

Thank you -- it's nice to know that someone has thought of the thousands of people who will be losing their jobs shortly.

As someone who works in one of the possibly closing stores, I have to say, it's a little upsetting to see that all anyone cares about is their own shopping desires. This event is so much bigger than that. There are peoples' lives at stake here.

The woodfield mall one is on the list to stay open. Not sure which list you were looking at, but I think you got them confused.

What is the difference between the old stores look and the new one by Childrens palce. I never really shopped much at Disney store years past becuase I was a single mom with out much money. Over the last two years, I have started going and foundsome great deals. I thought the sotre looked the same as ever, but not sure since I never really paid attention alot before. I know we had one shut down a few years ago, but just about everything in that mall is gone now.
I also used to think the prices to be really high whe nI did stroll through, and don't so much now. Is that the doing of Childrens place, or was I so poor before, I jsut didn't want to part with my money? LOL!:confused3

PA
South Hills Village
Park City Center
Montgomery Mall
The Mall at Steamtown
Westmoreland Mall
Harrisburg Mall
Ross Park Mall
Capital City Mall
Century III Mall
Logan Valley Mall
Berkshire Mall
Exton Square Mall
The Mall at Robinson
The Outlets at Hershey
Rockvale Square Outlets
Philadelphia Premium Outlets

So if I am reading this right, I am going from five stores within a 45 minute drive from my house (Camp Hill - Harrisburg, PA) to none!!!! :scared1:
How can that be??? Two of these are outlet stores that just opened within the last year.
My closest Disney store will now be an hour and a half drive away! Do they know how much business they just lost?
