Another Disney FL Resident Ticket Question - Minors

OK, I know recently there was a thread about an out of state person planning on getting FL resident tickets through their relative and we all chimed in with a "this is a bad idea". Oddly enough today while picking up my kids I had someone else bring this up about how FL residents get up to 4 passes to use for others, I told her no but she was insistent - to the point that I went back on-line to double check my own facts. Which made me realize that Disney is VERY specific that those 18 and older will have to provide a photo ID. Now I know I've read this before and assumed that it was because they can't prove that those under 18 are legal residents (they don't have bills, normally don't have an ID although if you are 16 you probably have a drivers permit at the least), etc. Anyway, looking over the site I then decided to google to the effect "FL resident Disney tickets for children" leading me to several Disney Park Mom responses that yes, in fact a resident can purchase tickets for non-residents that are minors when they are also going to the park with them. I still feel like this is a grey area, but since I go with my brother (FL resident) when I go it would save us a couple of hundred dollars doing it this way. This trip the only members of the party impacted would be DD-7 and our sister who is still 16.

So my question is has my family just been overpaying for the past few years?!?! Were we reading the rules incorrectly, assuming fine print that isn't there? And more importantly - what would you do? TIA

I would think that purchasing tickets for children visiting their relatives in Florida would be fine. You indicate that the Florida resident will be going to the parks with the visiting children. For instance, I would also think about grandparents who live in the area, and the grandkids come to visit them and they’d like to go to the parks. I think that’s a much different situation then a Florida resident buying discounted passes, giving them to other people when the Florida resident is not going to the parks themselves.

I will buy FL resident tickets for my grandchildren- no grey area there from the Disney site.
My daughter, however, lives in Michigan. She will not be with us, but if she did come with me, she would have to buy a non-resident ticket.

So if he buys them does he add them to his MDE account and then they are linked that way? Just wanting to understand the mechanics of this. Thank!

Also: the Florida resident must enter the park with the minor the 1st time with their proof of residency. We just returned from a big family trip and 2 of my SIL's have homes in Florida and purchased the tickets for their grandchildren. I will say that they had a very snarky CM at MK doing the verification for one of my SIL's - but the other one said it went like a breeze (their first park was AK)

Reality. You are a florida resident or you arent regardless of age. If you dont have a residence here you arent a resident and neither are your children.

No, they are not added to HIS account, they have to be added to the person who is using them. That would be your kids.

I’ve been doing the same searching and also noticing that the verification is coming from Disney moms panels and/or questions & answers. Also checking to see if my relative can buy tickets for minors visiting for the summer and truly surprised to be told absolutely no problem. This is info from December 2019, so current. It just says the fl resident needs to verify address when they pickup tickets, but kids don’t have to be with them when going in the park. I did screen shot the pages if anyone wants to see them. The kids are 15 and 5.

I wondered the same thing and was thinking they might have to add the kids to their friends and family list.

When I went with my step kids to the parks I bought everyone Florida resident tickets. They didn't have to provide anything (plus were too young to have any sort of identification proof) Since me and my husband are both Florida residents I guess they just assumed they were too?

My parents live in Florida (we do not) and they purchase my kids Florida resident AP's every year. The first visit upon renewal must be with the Florida resident and every visit thereafter can be with anyone. I personally verified this with Disney before they were purchased and this is now the 4th year they have had the Resident AP.
