Another death at Disney

I just want to clarify....in case anyone thought otherwise....that I was NOT being snarky or sarcastic or ugly in any way when I commented on Miranda's picture. I often compliment people on their nice photos posted in their signatures, and was doing the same here. I think it's a nice way to brighten someone's day!

Gosh, I don't think anyone would think otherwise. You were very nice.

Thanks! Looking for unoffensive smilie... ;)

:confused3 I have 1200 photos from our last trip on CDs, and I can't even figure out how to make room on my computer for them! I am so not a technology person. And my DH who is a techno genius...doesn't like to work with computers on his time off! :rolleyes2 GBH, I suggested that maybe I shouldn't have to work with kids in the evenings... :p

I am guessing this is directed at me since I have a picture of me (because I like to also see who I am speaking with), my 2 dogs whom I love very much, and my boyfriend and I of 4 years. SORRY! I think I am gonna disappear for a while. Some people have no tact. Today just isn't my day. :rolleyes2

I do have one question. If you feel like you have to apologize in advance for something, why would you even say it????? :crazy2:

Ignore people that make comments like this to you. It was rude and unnecessary.
I for one love when people have pics in their sigs-check out mine! So put your favorite pics in your signature and don't worry about anyone else! :flower:

Wow, I clicked on this thread to find information about the poor guy who died at Disney world!! And instead I found a bunch of nasty, stupid remarks. I think I will go back to reading my touring books they are much more mature.

for the person who wanted to know why we like to know about non family members is because we like to prey and keep others in our thoughts, we care it could be one of us and obviously that person does no know the type of support we provide to each other on here, people we do not even know.

Please make that "pray"... since you're a lawyer (I'm one too).

Lots of people put their pictures in their sig. This gal is just being given a hard time because she's gorgeous. If I looked like her I might want to have my pic in my sig too. Unfortunately the guinea pig is cuter than I'll ever be.

I used to use GRUMPY as my signature, but changed to the American Flag after being called an old troll way too many times when I posted, and I wasn't even being mean in my posts. I wasn't all that old either!

The only reason why I read threads that discuss the death of someone at WDW is so I can say a prayer for the person and their family. Maybe it's because I have lost several people close to me, but I always feel sadness when I hear of someone passing away. I feel horrible for the family.

I am one of the people who likes to read about news that happens at Disney. If people don't want to read it then don't click on to this thread! It really is that simple:) No apologies or explanations are needed. It is a valid topic for this board.

Hmmm ... I think maybe that's for the best. You got bent out of shape right away on this thread and now you're leaving because of what Rinkwide said. Perhaps you are a little too sensitive now and do need a break. You can come back when you're feeling better.

FWIW, I agree with everyone here that Rinkwide shoudn't have made the "mirrors" crack. It was mean and his original post has been removed. However, he did have a point. Your 3 pictures exceed the DIS signature photo guidelines by 15,000 bytes: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=332080 .

I am not directing it at any one particular person but there are quite a few responses on this thread in which people are telling the OP that she shouldn't do this and shouldn't do that. Some are personal opinions and some are directed at the "rules" of posting. In my opinion...and this is just MY opinion, I think that we should leave the enforcement on posting pictures, wrong board etc. to the administrators on these boards.

To get back to the subject this thread is really about, I have to say that, while I do think the media are frequently vultures, this story about the man with the pacemaker absolutely makes sense to me. I've worked in the newsroom of a major metropolitan newspaper for 12 years and I don't think it's sensationalism.

With a strange death (the 4-year-old on MS) and a strange illness (the teenager's stroke on ToT) in recent months, this story is a follow-up to those. All the versions of the latest story that I've seen, including the link earlier in this thread, say in the first graph that the man had a pacemaker and the ride had nothing to do with his death. That's the point of the story -- he died at Disney and Disney WAS NOT at fault!

As one poster said, Disney has enough people on their property every day to make up a city. Well, think about the most prominent place in your city -- on a "slow" news day, someone who was only 30-year-old dying in say, your City Hall, might be a story. The fact that the "city" in this case is probably the most recognizable company around the globe means even more.

And I would be shocked to find that CNN had a reporter covering only Disney. The Orlando Sentinel doesn't even have that -- they have a reporter that covers all the area theme parks, not just Disney.

Thanks for sticking up for me. I feel like a few people on these boards are just a little harsh and then are picking on me for who knows why. I can't tell you how many thread i have seen on here about deaths at Disney.

Anyways, thank you! :flower3:

EDIT: Oops.... I meant to write that to all the nice people out there who have said such sweet things. I realized I didn't address anyone specifically! :rolleyes1

Okie dokie. The moderators are a busy bunch. If I can help a poster out by providing a link to the clipart rules, then why shouldn't I as longh as I do it in a nice way? I was actually doing her a favor. Would you rather I "report the post" and allow the moderators to blow away her signature?

FWIW, I had no problem with the content of her photos, just that they were 30% larger than they should have been. The rules are there for a reason. Way before you joined the DIS people had tons and tons of clipart that would take up 2-3 pages for every single post, no matter how small.

Thank you for telling me. I was unaware of the rules and I don't know how to shrink pictures down or anything. I just barely know how to upload and post them. :rotfl2: I just put them up there because I love love love seeing other people's pictures. Thanks again. :flower3:

I love everyone's pictures too! If you go over on the Technical Support Board (http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=43) somone should be able to help you shrink your pictures :goodvibes.

BTW, I'm glad you didn't stay away. We are mostly a good bunch, but even I need a break from DIS every once in a while .
