another croc ?? problem with slipping in rain

I had croc like flip flops a couple of years ago they were the best things I ever wore on my feet. I'm overweight and with them I could walk for miles with little back and foot pain. I hate wearing closed in shoes and sneakers.

My problem is I've almost killed myself at Disney when it rained with some really bad falls on the wet slippery pavement, even happened to my DH with his flip flops, even happens when I'm careful
Are there slipon sandals that are like crocs but not slippery?
Forgot to add that I just came back from the mall and tried on dozens of shoes ranging from $30-$150 none were as comfortable as those $20 flipflops.

My crocs are actually the best shoes I own for traction control (forget sneakers, they're like death with laces for me on wet ground). But I know this is only true as long as they're not older i.e. haven't gotten worn down too much. After so much time or mileage they get slippery like any other shoe. Obviously, this has just been my own personal experience.

so true about worn in crocs, they are quite slippery. My pair of disney crocs are quite slippery because they are about past tense- have to get a new pair.

Your best bet is to buy the slip resistant crocs. They come in a few styles and can be worn safely in restaurant kitchens and such.

I was going to suggest the "professional" line of crocs. They are made for restaurants and health care. DH wears them and hasn't had any trouble at Disney since he switched from the regular ones. He's almost busted himself in Fantasyland a thousand times in the mornings when its still wet from being hosed down.

The soles wear out on my crocs long before the rest of the shoe. They still look and feel great but once the bottom wears off to Goodwill they go. I learned the hard way falling and bruising my butt and my pride while running across a parking lot in the rain. I have been keeping a close eye on the crocs outlet and picked up a few pairs on sale. I was so unhappy last month when I had to get rid of my 2 pairs of Mickey crocs due to sole wear.

I hate crocs because of the slipping factor. I fell once- hard. I was about 8 months pregnant with twins, and fell in the street, trying to stop my daughter from running in the street. My feet sweat and I just slip all over the place. I wore the crocs because my feet were so swollen! Not again! I will only wear them in the house and on carpet.
Another brand of sandals to try are the Teva sports type sandals. No rubbing between your toes and they seem to have better traction.

All Crocs are made of slip resistant material. They were designed and made for boating (walking on slippery surfaces without sliding).

If you have experienced slippery crocs it is because they are to old and worn out.
They do not last forever, when they start to get a bit slippery it is time to order new ones.

New Crocs do NOT slip when wet.

I fell once in my crocs but it was not because they were slippery. Just the opposite. My foot stuck on a tiny elevation in the floor and I went down. I landed on my knee and my head hit the door that was right in front of me. This happened 48 hours before a trip to WDW and that was the first thing I thought of, when I landed. Luckily the injuries were minor and did not mess up the trip.

Get a new pair for Disney. Too much traction seems to be my problem. i find myself tripping over my own feet because they grip the ground, or perhaps because I start to drag my feet rather than actually pick them up when I walk. More likely the latter.

This thread reminded me of the time when DH first started wearing Crocs. He loves them and I can't wear them because of a longer sencond toe...but anywho....He came home from a rainy evening out and explained that I could call him "Neo"(from the Matrix). Why, I asked. "Becasue I did all kinds of Matrix moves to keep from slipping in my Crocs."

Then he got them really dirty in the back yard one day and forgot the above....he decided he would just wear them in the shower to clean them off....Neo!!

yes-it's most likely the worn out treads on the bottom of the crocs. I always buy a new pair for a trip to disney. After 7-8 days of walking on the concrete in the parks my new pair are worn down too. So for me a trip to Disney=a new pair of crocs!

It is the traction that gets worn down. They are pretty secure when new, although you still need to wear them around for a little while to break them in before WDW walking. I wear my new Disney Crocs around the house so the upper gets broken in without as much stress on the traction on the sole. I have also since discovered the Skechers croc style shoes. I really like the Cali mary janes and I do find they have better traction in the wet at home. I love my crocs but they may be having some company by a rival brand on the next trip.

If you are very conerned about injury due to slipping, the suggestions above to get some slip resistant crocs may be worth considering.
