Another Craigslist question on selling.

I posted an item on Craigslist, I posted it for about 60% off the new price....and it's pretty new, in great shape. Anyhow....I've had many people contact me about it, and some of them want you to hold it....need more time, need more pictures...etc. No one has been firm about buying it yet though, except one person. They asked if I'd hold it till tomorrow and they'd pay me 20.00 more....in cash. Said that they would have a family member pick it up since they can't make it.

Should I be leary of this deal? I've always heard not to take offers if people are offering more, or having a friend or family member pick it up...but this really isn't scam level, it's 20.00 LOL and cash. And the person lives a state away, so I could see them having a family member pick it up.

I guess it is a judgement call.
I do not HOLD anything...but tell someone that if it is still available on the day they can make it I will sell it to them, CASH!

I would ONLY do CASH, be prepared for someone to show up with less, (YUP, people try it) and before they show up, (which should always be OUTSIDE your home with no indication of who else is/not home) be clear that the final agreed upon CASH price is $x dollars.

Good Luck...lots of people looking for stuff and you CAN get some good buys, but be leery none the less. There are some STRANGE people out there...casing homes and getting a "feel" for the situation. Good Luck!
