sorry... I should have done all this when I was 18. Now I have to play catch-up...

Would someone please explain to me how a class with a lab works? A science class I'm going to take is a 3 hr lecture and a 2 hr lab. Do I just schedule it like it's another class? So if I take the lecture T/Th, I schedule the lab for another time?

Hope these questions aren't too dumb... One good thing will come out of all this... I'll be able to guide my DD17 through it when she enrolls next year!

Many moons ago, the lab and class were a package deal. If memory serves, yes you would schedule the lab for a different time, BUT it depends on the school I think. Good luck. Maybe someone on the college board could help more.

when you registrar for a class with a lab, at the two colleges I have been to, when you put the class lecture number in you want, a list of different times and days for lab will come up or should anyways, and you just pick the one that works the schedule you need to make. it can get a little hairy when you need to do 3 labs for a semester! I would and do look at the master schedule a head of time and sketch out what I want for classes like a puzzle to see if it all fits! and I always have a backup one incase classes are filled. good luck! it can cause migraine! I just did mine!

At my kids' university, you can choose any section of the lecture and any section of the lab - whatever fits into your schedule. There are many more sections of lab than lecture as the lecture has up to 35 students and the labs are capped at either 14 or 18.

The class I want is T/Th... the lab time that would work best for me is Mon... is that a problem?

My work schedule is different on Mon/Wed from my shift the rest of the week, so I can't take the class offered on those dates at the time it is avail, but the lab I could do that day.

It depends on the school, and sometimes the course as well. When I was in college, you chose the lab and lecture seperately. You could take them together, or take the lecture first and then take the lab the following semester. But some other classes, they came packaged together.

It would depend on what times the lecture and lab was actually offered. If it is offered when you want it and it wasn't filled yet you wouldn't have a problem.

when i did it, i scheduled my class on tuesday thursday, and my lab was on wednesday. the lab usually goes right along with what you're doing in class. mine was 4 hours, meaning i was in class for 3 hours a week, and lab for one.

At our small community college the lectures are on M/W or T/Th mornings and labs are on Thrusday afternoons

Thank you so much for your help. I think I have the schedule I want... I register tomorrow at midnight! (which is WELL past my bedtime, by the way...) I am VERY excited. Thanks, again!

do you have your numbers written down? this is VERY important.

ummmm....nope. I have instructions on how to do it... guess I ought to read it, right? LOL!!

the web site actually makes it very easy to register. I went through and chose the classes I want, and then when they open up registration I go to the screen showing those classes, and check "register all". I'll read the instructions, though, to make sure I'm not missing anything. Thank you!!
