Can you be a hobbiest CM consultant or do you have minimum amounts you need to sell each month/quarter making it difficult just to be a consultant for yourself?

I call them Friends and Family Consultant. They are basically consultants to get theri stuff at cost for themselves, family ,and friends. You need to maintain $500 every month in retail - so you are looking at spending $350 plus tax on retail and shipping on retail plus tax. I know many consultants that do this by offering their discount to their friends and family. I hope this helps.

I thought it was quarterly? :confused3

oops - sorry!!!! It is quarterly. Your first order has to be the full $500 and then you can do it cumulatively over three months!!!

The first $500 does not have to be in the first month, it can be spread out over a three month period.

I've been a personal use consultant (and I mean that literally!) for 6 years now. I've tried to make a go of it as a business, but life just gets in the way. I do so much scrapbooking that I've not had a problem making my minimum each quarter. I do give a lot of CM stuff as gifts, which helps. Teachers just love the personal trimmer. :)

Thanks everyone!

I just spoke with my neighbor who has been my consultant and she actually asked me to take over for her! She has five kids and a teaching job and has really not had enough time to keep up with it. So I will get her customer list and hopefully be able to build the business back up to where it was when she took over for my original consultant who moved out of the area!

The business used to be pretty good so I am hopeful that I will be able to make a go of it with!

Good luck to you. I was a consultant for 3 years and had to quit because I just didn't have the sales and I couldn't afford to spend the amount every quarter. With tax and shipping I spent $417 every quarter to maintain (that is the $500 retail minimum + tax and shipping).

I just accumulated so much stuff that I am now trying to use it all up.

Hi,
I have been a consultant for over 5 years now and the first 2 years were really just for me, but now I have built up a business and a team without too much stress or effort. All the girls in my unit just love it and are consultants at different levels for different reasons. Just so you know, the min. amount is $500 retail or $350 consultant cost every rolling quartrer. This can be made up of traditional products, framing, digital Storybooks, photo gifts, or software.

HI!!
i was a CM consultant for 5 years...I started out with a pretty good business...but as the kids got older and I got busier with them, it started to fall apart.

In the end I was doing 1 workshop/month w/ friends and family at my house and that was covering my min order requirement, with only minimal purchases by yours truely.

Finally, last October, I decided that I didn't even want to commit to the 1 time a quarter workshop and gave it up...I miss it though!!
