Another closure--getting frustrated

The comments I read are that it was not popular even with active encouragement to invite folks inside. Some blame location.

But from a $$$$ perspective, underutilized things tend to disappear.
Correct. Also this venue is called the flex theater that flex part of the title means that things will move in and out of here. I don't see anything ever being permanent here.

Does anyone have the dates for the Boneyard Reno? Just curious as we are going end of April.

In some twisted way, the closures are making our itinerary planning a little easier, lol. Usually, we have 11 days to spread every thing out, but this time, we only have 4 park days because we are doing a DCL cruise too, so we have to jam a lot into a little bit of time. The closures give us less to chose from!

For every ride that is closed for refurbishment during one of my trips, there is twice that many rides that I just didn't have time for anyway!

Last trip Pirates was down ... we didn't even go into Adventureland or FrontierLand in our one day in MK. It was my son's third birthday and he was happy spending all his time in Tomorrowland (three trips on Buzz, Incredibles Dance Party, Tomorrowland Speedway, etc.). At DHS, LMA was open, but we never even had time to go back that far in the park.

The trip before that, the WDW Railroad was down, but that gave us a nice quiet spot to nap my son (2 years old) underneath the trestle by the Frontierland station.

Unless they close an entire park, there is still plenty to do. Just not as MUCH to do (especially for repeat visitors .. which most of us are).

Some (myself included) .. would just prefer they close DHS in its entirety to help speed up construction on Star Wars and Toy Story Land .. but that won't happen. If they did . .THEN people would have a right to complain.

It opens back up in March it won't affect you.

I'm just waiting for some refurbs to be announced for my November trip.

We're going in November too. I've heard that BTMR refurb has been pushed back, and I am SO hoping it's open when we're there as its DS9's FaVoRiTe ride. However, even if it is and if other rides are in refurb, we'll most likely get to enjoy TSMM, Soarin' and Rivers of Light at the least. Oh! And Frozen Norway. So lots for us late Fall travelers to be thankful for...

I know this doesn't make OP feel better, though. Last time we went my kids loved the Boneyard, too. So, I do feel badly for you and your family. But, it's a good opportunity to teach resilience in the face of disappointment. How can we make this fun anyway? What can we do instead? This means we can spend more time at X...

BTMR is scheduled for refurb this spring (April-early summer). It had disappeared from the list for awhile leading to rumors that the refurb was being pushed back, however it is back on the list for a spring refurb. While there are no guarantees that it won't go down for other reasons, the refurb will not affect your trip in November. Sadly, it will be closed for our spring trip. :( Luck of the draw, right?

Thanks for the dates. (I should have looked it up before I put this out there. My bad.)

I think one thing about these boards is that a lot of posters are repeat visitors or AP holders. Which is great but we can't go every year or every other year. Our next visit will be when the kids are much older. One refurb in and of itself is no biggie, but when you add them up it gets to be a bummer. But we'll still have fun. I guess we'll have more time in the pool, if it's warm enough.

Have to echo what many have said. It is open 385 days a year. They need to rehab everything at sometime to keep it fresh.

We always go Christmas, New Years, or Easter week. We pay the TOP TOP TOP amount for our trip. Most of the time we experience very few closures but we pay for it.

Next year we have decided to go in Jan. We are using half the DVC points (which is basically half the price). We know we will experience lots of closures but we are paying less so it is worth it.

I promise a ride closure will only ruin your day if you let it. Have fun and stop letting things you can't control impact your mood.

Maybe change your trip dates, if there's still time? Midsummer is the best time to go if you hate closures.

While it sucks to have "favorite" attractions closed during a visit, there are always going to be rehabs going on...even more so during the "slow" times of the year. In a resort that is open 365 days a year, and undergoes the wear and tear that WDW does, the rehabs are a necessary evil.

the amount of time they spend on construction has more to do with spreading costs over a longer period, than it has do to with visitors and such. If they wanted to get it done faster, it would get done faster. That is just not how Disney operates.

Personally I can live with all the smaller closures, but I think it's pretty bad to have Soarin' and BTMRR closed at the same time. Those are some of the best loved rides in all the parks, fun for a wide age and interest range. They could have waited on one of them until Rivers of Light and the Frozen ride were open. Just sayin'.
